Realme X launched with Snapdragon 710 SoC, 16MP Pop-up Camera, 48MP Rear Camera and more

Realme is finally venturing out to China with the launch of Realme X, a brand new phone that would soon land in India as well. This features high-end specs such as Snapdragon 710 SoC, 16MP Pop-up Camera, 48MP Rear Camera and more. That said, in its Chinese launch stage, the brand has unveiled a Realme X lite edition as well. Let’s see what each of the devices has to offer.

Realme X Highlights

Realme X is the company’s first fullscreen display phone without any notch or other forms of cutouts. It sports a 6.53-inch OLED screen with 1,080 x 2,340-pixel resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 91.2% screen to body ratio. This has the Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. This is achieved thanks to a spring-loaded 16MP (f/2.0) Sony IMX-471 pop-up camera which Realme touts to work in just 0.72 seconds.

Turn to the back, you see Realme has entered the 48MP (f/1.7) camera bandwagon. Like its counterparts, this one also uses a Sony IMX 586 sensor. It is paired with a 5MP (f/2.4) depth sensor for bokeh snaps. Realme has also baked in 16 types of scenes and features such as HDR and 960fps slo-mo video recording. As for the aesthetics, you get a gradient glass back.

Under the hood, the performance is handled by Snapdragon 710 chipset aided by Adreno 616 GPU and HyperBoost 2.0, cooling gel-tech, Game Boost 2.0. It comes in 6GB/8GB LPDDR4X of RAM configuration and 64GB/128GB UFS 2.1 onboard storage options, which is further expandable via microSD card. A 3,765mAh battery would fuel the phone and you could refill it quickly with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charger. The Dolby Atmos support could make a difference in the audio experience. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, Dual VOLTE nano-SIM slots, USB-C, in-display fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, and GPS.

Realme X Lite (Youth Edition): How lighter is it?

Moving to the next launch of the day, Realme X Lite, it is a rebranded Realme 3 Pro (review). So, it shares the same Snapdragon 710 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. It is fueled by a 4,045 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast-charging support. Needless to point, you get ColorOS 6.0 based on the Android 9 Pie OS out of the box.

Upfront you get a 6.3-inch display with a teardrop notch. This cutout is where its 25MP (f/2.0) selfie shooter sits. The rear camera panel houses a 16MP (f/1.7) primary sensor with a 5MP  (f/2.4) depth sensor. You would also find a fingerprint scanner at the back.

Other features include dual Nano SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE, and a micro-USB port.

Realme X and Realme X Lite: Pricing and Availability

Realme X and the Realme X Lite (Youth Edition) would be available in China from May 20.

Realme X is priced as follows:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant- CNY 1,499 (around Rs. 15,400)
  • 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant- CNY 1,599 (around Rs. 16,400)
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant- CNY 1,799 (around Rs. 18,500)

It is out in Steam white, Punk blue colors. They would also be available in two special limited onion and garlic color editions. These will also bear 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage, but priced at – CNY 1,899 (around Rs. 19,500).

Coming to the Lite or Youth Edition, the pricing is as follows:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant- CNY 1,199 (around Rs. 12,300)
  • 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant- CNY 1,299 (around Rs. 13,300)
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant- CNY 1,499 (around Rs. 15,400)
