While we got a Poco this year, it wasn’t the Poco we deserved! Xiaomi rebranded the Redmi K30 as Poco X2. Also, Poco had become an individual entity by then. So, we had to contend what we got. But, when Redmi K30 Pro debuted, there were talks of it being launched as Poco F2 in India. A fresh finding rises the chance of this being true.

It’s highly likely that Xiaomi uses the same MIUI camera app within different models of a phone, irrespective of the region. So, the minds at XDADevelopers sneaked into the internal codes to come at this discovery.

Upon decompiling the MIUI 11 beta’s camera app, a junior XDA member has found a “SHOT ON POCO Phone” watermark. Apparently, in this cobweb of codes, there is references to “lmi” and “lmiin.” Just so you know, Imi happens to be the code name of Redmi K30 Pro. Thus, they infer that the ‘in’ suffix means its Indian edition of the phone.

You can have a look at the string of codes here.

Now, beyond all these code mumbo jumbo too, we speculate Redmi K30 Pro to adopt the Poco F2 alias. The reason is simple – Poco branding has an edge and would be able to beget interest with the F2 title.
