Samsung has teased a nearly bezel-less laptop design that accommodates an under-panel camera. It is christened Blade Bezel. So, while the smartphone market has seen some early adopters of such design, this, if I’m not mistaken, is the first of its kind in the laptop territory.

So let’s look into what we know about the world’s first laptop with an in-display webcam.

Samsung Blade Bezel: UPC

This has an OLED panel with pretty slim borders around which should endow an immersive visual experience. It is possible because of the “invisible camera hole”. Samsung tells the display portion above the camera will go transparent (probably translucent) when you fire up the camera for video calls.

Now it is not clear whether or what sort of AI wizardry is the company employing to achieve this feat.

What we know is a few other display metrics such as the OLED panel is 13.3-inches diagonally offering up to 93% screen-to-body ratio. At only 1mm thick, it is said to be 50% thinner and over 50 grams lighter than traditional OLED panels.

That’s all revealed for now. Samsung is keeping specifics related to the laptop internals, launch, price, and availability closer to its chest. If we were to guess, chances are the display could surface on any of the company’s Chromebooks. Incidentally, there are also rumors around an under-display camera on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3.
