Seems like as we inch closer to the Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch, leaks and rumors are spiralling left and right. We just got a bunch of camera upgrades that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will see along with the 2025 Galaxy S25 Ultra and 2026 Galaxy S25 Ultra. Yes, you read it right, we are talking about camera upgrades that seem promising to appear on the next three generations of Galaxy S-series Ultra phones, and here’s what you need to know.

Current Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Setup

To shed light on what the current flagship phone brings to compare to, Galaxy S23 Ultra packs in a 200MP primary wide-angle cam, a 12MP ultrawide cam, a 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and a 10MP telephoto periscope camera with 1.12micron pixel and 10x zoom.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra To Get a 50MP Periscope Camera

According to tipster Revegnus, Galaxy S24 Ultra will upgrade to a 50MP sensor with 0.7-micron pixels on its periscope setup. All other sensors are expected to remain untouched. It means the same 200MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom.

If that’s not all, Ice Universe took it to X (formerly Twitter) teasing the AI optimizations onboard Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 200MP primary cam. It is reportedly capable of identifying 12 kinds of objects and optimizing the images for better-quality output.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Camera Upgrades

A year later i.e. first half of 2025 will see the debut of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series. Albeit we are more than a year away from its launch, leaks have already started making their presence felt.

The top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra is likely to upgrade the cameras as well. The primary 200MP wide-angle camera remains the same although we can expect a new lens, probably Sony, to cut if not Samsung’s ISOCELL GN-series of sensor. Moving on, we have heard about an upgraded 50MP ultrawide camera up from 12MP on S23U and S24U.

Finally, the periscope lens is expected to gain variable focal length capabilities that should improve its zoom shots as the in-sensor zoom will be able to hold on until the sensor reaches the end of optical zoom, ultimately translating into better shots.

The Galaxy S25 and S25+, on the other hand, are expected to keep using Samsung ISOCELL GN3. It comes from tipster Revegnus after corroboration from the sources reversing the earlier claims that Galaxy S25/S25+ will switch to a Sony sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Camera Upgrades

In 2026, we will get our hands on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. With that, we should get ready for upgraded camera specs on the S26U/ It is likely to promise a 200MP primary shooter with a 1.1” sensor and 0.7-micron pixels size up from current-gen 1/1.3” sensor and 0.6-micron pixels size.

Of course, at the end of the day, these are speculations that may or may not materialize. It is better to take this information with a pinch of salt as it won’t hurt if the South Korean giant decides to change the specifics mentioned above.
