Samsung is set to commence 2025 with its inaugural unpacked event of the year. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series is scheduled for the third week of January and will feature a minimum of three smartphones: the Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Ultra variant is anticipated to be the flagship model, boasting enhancements in several critical aspects such as camera capabilities, design, performance, and additional features. Below are some of the expected upgrades for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
1. More Powerful Chipset

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to receive a significant upgrade with the introduction of a more advanced SoC. It is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is the flagship processor for 2025. This new chipset is designed to enhance both performance and efficiency, although it may also lead to an increase in price. As a high-end processor, it will cater to gamers and users who prioritize performance. Notably, tipster Ice Universe has indicated that all models within this series will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Additionally, both the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will come with a minimum of 12GB of RAM, marking the discontinuation of 8GB RAM variants in this upcoming lineup.
2. Refreshed Design

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is anticipated to showcase a refreshed design characterized by curved edges, moving away from the sharp corners found in earlier models. This new aesthetic is expected to draw similarities to the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The updated design aims to enhance comfort, addressing the discomfort caused by the sharp edges of previous generations during prolonged use. Additionally, the rear of the device is rumored to incorporate a five-camera configuration, taking design cues from the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
3. Brighter Display

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels. A significant enhancement will be the screen’s peak brightness, which is anticipated to reach 3000 nits. Additionally, the display is likely to have reduced bezels, contributing to a more premium appearance.

Additionally, there will be 12MP and 50MP telephoto sensors with 3x zoom capabilities. For selfies, a 12MP Samsung ISOCELL S5K3LU sensor will be featured on the front.
5. One UI 7 & New Galaxy AI

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series is set to launch with One UI 7, built on Android 15. This operating system will introduce innovative Galaxy AI functionalities, enhancing user experience significantly. The addition of new AI features, along with enhancements to existing ones, will strengthen the overall AI capabilities. One UI 7 will feature the Now Bar for real-time notifications on the lock screen, an updated camera application interface, redesigned app icons, and improved widgets. Anticipated new AI functionalities include call transcription during recordings, tailored notifications, and additional enhancements.
6. Integration of Bixby with LLM

An additional noteworthy advancement regarding the Galaxy S25 Series is incorporating large language models (LLM) into Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. This update is set to be released worldwide in January 2025, enhancing its conversational abilities to rival Google’s Assistant Gemini.
