The Galaxy Z Flip7 marks the seventh iteration of Samsung’s clamshell foldable series, and this time, the improvements are more than just a new paintjob. It pushes the boundaries of clamshell foldables with a stunning 4.1-inch edge-to-edge cover screen, a refined design, and a form factor that’s made for vloggers.

As someone who typically gravitates toward traditional flagships with large batteries and telephoto lenses, I approached the Z Flip7 with skepticism. However, its compact form, beautiful cover screen, and polished software have made it a standout. Does it justify its premium price? Is it the right foldable for you? Let’s dive into the details.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Price & Availability

The Galaxy Z Flip7 opened for pre-orders on July 9, 2025, with general availability starting July 25, 2025. It comes in four colors: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and Mint (exclusive to Samsung.com). Pricing is as follows:

You can purchase it from Samsung.com, Amazon, Flipkart, Verizon, or offline retailers. Samsung offers trade-in credits, Samsung Care+, and a 6-month Google AI Pro subscription with 2TB cloud storage as incentives.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Design and Build

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is a design triumph, blending style, durability, and portability. Weighing 188g and measuring 6.5mm unfolded (13.7mm folded), it’s slightly heavier but thinner than the Z Flip6 (187g, 6.9mm). The Armor Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back and cover screen ensure great durability.

Galaxy Z Flip7

And while the IP48 rating protects against dust particles larger than 1mm and water submersion up to 1.5m for 30 minutes, other brands have been able to achieve a better IP rating for their foldables. Nonetheless, the redesigned Armor FlexHinge closes with a tighter gap, making the display crease less noticeable. I think it’s the least noticeable crease on any foldable.

Galaxy Z Flip7

The 4.1-inch cover screen is a visual treat, with ultra-thin 1.25mm bezels and a flat, edge-to-edge design that eliminates the camera cutout issues of the Z Flip6’s 3.4-inch display. The Blue Shadow color looks stunning, and the glass back adds a premium touch.

Z Flip7 cover screen

The camera rings can collect dust, which isn’t easy to clean. Compared to the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, the Z Flip7 feels more premium and also looks more premium. The Z Flip7, in its folded state, is easily pocketable, even slipping into shallow pockets.

The power button and volume rockers are placed a bit on the higher side, and it takes a day to get used to. You can use the buttons on both the cover screen and the inner screen. One nice thing is that the volume buttons flip (see what I did there?) when using the cover screen.

Galaxy Z Flip7

This is Samsung’s best flip phone design yet; it’s compact, beautiful, and also quite durable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Display

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Z Flip7’s 6.9-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main display looks great, offering a 1080 x 2520 resolution (~397 PPI), 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. It peaks at 2600 Nits, delivering vibrant colors and sharp details for Netflix, YouTube, and gaming.

However, like the Galaxy S25, it struggles to sustain brightness in direct sunlight due to thermal throttling, which can be tweaked via Samsung’s Display Assistant app. The 480Hz PWM is not good and may cause discomfort for flicker-sensitive users, and the 8-bit panel occasionally shows color banding at low brightness.

The Vision Booster feature dynamically adjusts saturation, but it can make colors appear washed out at extreme brightness levels, with no option to disable it.

The 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen (948 x 1048, 120Hz, 2600 Nits) is a massive upgrade over the Z Flip6’s cover screen. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is quite durable.

Galaxy Z Flip7

By default, it only supports basic widgets and a few apps, but you can have full app functionality through Good Lock’s MultiStar module. This allows you to adjust aspect ratios (full screen, above cameras, or side-aligned) for any app you add using MultiStar.

Galaxy Z Flip7

Once you’ve added the apps you want, you can even make UPI payments on the cover screen. Of course, you can also reply to notifications or answer calls directly from the cover screen, making it highly practical.

Galaxy Z Flip7

The cover screen can be customized with different lockscreen styles or cards. The new wrapper clock font is also available on the cover screen. Everything on this screen looks absolutely gorgeous, thanks to the super-slim 1.25mm symmetrical bezels. Oh, and you can access your Samsung Wallet directly on the cover screen too.

Galaxy Z Flip7

The low PWM on the cover screen is a drawback, and the lack of an anti-reflective coating reduces visibility in bright conditions. Both displays excel for media, and I really love what Samsung has done with the cover screen this year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Speakers and Haptics

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Z Flip7’s stereo speakers deliver loud, clear sound with respectable bass for a compact device. They’re ideal for YouTube videos, music, and hands-free calls, but the bass depth doesn’t quite match the slab phones.

Galaxy Z Flip7

Haptics are precise but feel weak at the default strength. Increasing to 100% through settings improves the experience, though it still falls short of the tactile feedback that you get on other slab phones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Software

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is the first device to ship with One UI 8 on Android 16, promising 7 years of OS and security updates until Android 23. One UI 8 builds on One UI 7’s visual overhaul, introducing smoother animations, redesigned widgets, and a revamped notification shade with a split quick panel (switchable to the classic layout).

Galaxy Z Flip7

The cover screen’s Now Bar is a highlight, offering quick access to timers, music controls, Google Maps navigation, and calendar events. Good Lock’s MultiStar module unlocks full app support on the cover screen. The lock screen’s new clock style wraps around subjects, but the absence of a frosted glass effect feels like a missed opportunity.

Galaxy AI

Galaxy Z Flip7

Galaxy AI is a cornerstone of the Z Flip7’s software, with features that enhance productivity and creativity. Circle to Search lets you identify objects or text by circling them, though it’s not yet supported on the cover screen, which is a letdown. It also now has the AI mode, which can be helpful in some scenarios.

Circle to Search
Circle to Search

Gemini Live enables real-time AI conversations, allowing you to plan trips, ask for help, send messages via WhatsApp, or play your music playlists hands-free. Gemini can also do tasks for you during a Live session using your own Samsung apps now.

Now Brief is supposed to deliver personalized summaries for weather, calendar events, workout stats, and screen time, occasionally suggesting YouTube Shorts and videos based on your usage. After using it on the S25 and now on the Flip7, I think this is a useful feature. You only get to experience the benefits once you use your phone long enough.

The Samsung Keyboard’s AI-generated emojis and stickers are fun, offering multiple styles from text prompts, and you also get a spelling and grammar checker built-in, thanks to Galaxy AI.

However, the Samsung Keyboard is not for me. And the lack of Gboard support on the cover screen is frustrating, and even more frustrating is the lack of gesture typing by default.

Samsung Keyboard on the cover screen

Audio Eraser removes background noise like wind or crowds from videos, processing on-device with no length limit, though it’s slightly less precise than Google’s Pixel Audio Eraser. It also now works with Samsung Notes, Voice Recorder, and on recorded calls. I also found a small Audio Eraser icon when playing certain videos, suggesting me to use the feature.

Audio Eraser

Generative Edit in the Gallery app is impressive, allowing you to remove objects or people with great accuracy. It works both on the device and in the cloud. The cloud one is, of course, better. Sketch to Image, Call Assist, and Writing Assist are also available on the Flip7.

Generative Edit
Generative Edit

The new natural language search in Settings and Gallery (e.g., “my eyes hurt” for eye comfort mode or “me in a hat” for photos) is intuitive, though Finder search can be inconsistent.

Bloatware, such as Galaxy Store ads and Gaming Hub promotions, slightly mars the experience. Good Lock’s Home Up, LockStar, and other modules offer deep customization for animations, icon placement, and more. And for the first time on a Galaxy Flip, DeX support is here.

Samsung has confirmed that features developed independently by Samsung, such as Audio Eraser, Object Eraser, Note Assist, Generative Wallpapers, Live Translate, Writing Assist, and more, will remain free forever. However, they might introduce a fee for other features.

One UI 8 feels polished and smooth, although minor issues, such as inconsistent fonts and animation speeds, persist. Overall, the software experience on the Z Flip7 is quite good, and you wouldn’t have much to complain about. You will love One UI 8.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Biometrics

Galaxy Z Flip7

The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is lightning-fast and reliable, working seamlessly on both when folded and unfolded. The 2D face unlock is quick but less secure than 3D alternatives.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Performance

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Z Flip7 is powered by the Exynos 2500, a 3nm 10-core chipset (1×3.3GHz Cortex-X5, 2×2.74GHz Cortex-A725, 5×2.36GHz Cortex-A725, 2×1.8GHz Cortex-A520) with an Xclipse 950 GPU, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

While not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy S25, the Exynos 2500 is optimized for the Flip’s compact form, with a larger vapor chamber improving thermals over the Z Flip6. It handles daily tasks like social media, multitasking, and video streaming with ease, and there are no major issues there.

Synthetic Benchmark Scores

Here are some benchmarks:

benchmarks
  • Geekbench 6: 2,350 (Single-Core) & 7,828 (Multi-Core)
  • AnTuTu V10: 1,943,890
  • 3DMark Wild Life Extreme:
    • Best Score: 4,542
    • Lowest Score: 2,104
    • Stability: 46.3%
  • Geekbench 6 GPU: Vulkan: 19,614; OpenCL: 18,386
  • AnTuTu Storage Test: 192,206

While these numbers indicate good performance, the Z Flip7 throttles under sustained loads, making it less ideal for prolonged intensive tasks compared to larger flagships.

In daily use, the phone remains responsive, with no lag during app switching or browsing. For gaming, it handles casual titles like BGMI at a stable 90 FPS on Smooth + Extreme settings, staying warm. We’re yet to test demanding games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves.

Galaxy Z Flip7

For the Z Flip7’s target audience, this performance is more than adequate; however, hardcore gamers may prefer a regular slab phone for better sustained performance.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Cameras

Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7’s camera system is not the best, but it’s good at taking selfies and vlogging, leveraging the 4.1-inch cover screen and FlexCam for a unique experience. The setup includes:

  • 50MP main camera (1/1.57-inch, f/1.8, 23mm, OIS, dual pixel PDAF)
  • 12MP ultra-wide camera (1/3.2-inch, f/2.2, 13mm, no AF)
  • 10MP selfie camera (1/3-inch, f/2.2, 23mm, no AF)

Only the main camera has AF, which is disappointing for a phone that costs over ₹1 lakh. Nonetheless, the redesigned camera app, introduced with One UI 7, makes the camera experience better and more intuitive by placing modes below the shutter for one-handed use. The new zoom slider is also great, as it enables super smooth lens switching and zooming.

Main Camera

The 50MP wide sensor produces sharp, vibrant images with excellent dynamic range in daylight. Colors lean natural with a slight softness to the images. Auto night mode performs fine in low light, capturing decent detail, though noise appears.

Manually enabling night mode boosts contrast and shadow detail, but moving subjects can introduce motion blur, both in daylight and low light. There is no telephoto lens, but it delivers decent results up to 5X in daylight. Overall, the main camera performance is satisfactory.

Ultra-Wide

The 12MP ultra-wide sensor captures a broad 123° field of view, ideal for landscapes or creative shots. In daylight, it delivers solid dynamic range, but edge details are softer, and colors appear flatter compared to the main sensor.

Low-light performance is a weak point, with high noise levels, washed-out colors, and no autofocus, ruling out macro photography. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold7, the ultra-wide lags in quality.

Portrait Mode

Portrait mode shines with the main camera, offering continuous adjustable focal lengths (1X,… 1.2X,… 1.4X,… 2X) and natural-looking bokeh. Subject separation is surprisingly good, with realistic skin tones and textures. However, details can soften at 2X.

Selfie Camera

The 10MP selfie camera is fine, producing sharp images and natural skin tones in daylight. It supports a 30mm crop, for solo selfies and a 23mm mode for group selfies. The HDR needs work.

However, it’s outclassed by the main camera when used with the cover screen. I don’t think there’s any point using the front camera for selfies unless you are on a video call. The 50MP sensor’s superior detail and bokeh make it the preferred choice.

Videos

Galaxy Z Flip7

All cameras support 4K30 and 4K60, with HDR and LOG, including the inner selfie camera. The cover screen’s FlexCam allows vlogging with the main camera in 1080p@30fps (default ratio) or 4K@60fps (9:16). Pro Video mode includes 24fps options and Galaxy LOG for color grading.

HDR10+ video delivers vibrant colors and dynamic range in daylight but struggles in low light, where noise and softness creep in. Stabilization is top-notch at 1X and 0.6X, producing shake-free footage even at night.

Audio Eraser helps remove background noise like wind or crowds, processing on-device with no length limit, though it’s less effective than Google’s Pixel Audio Eraser for isolating multiple voices.

FlexCam and Vlogging

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Z Flip7’s selfie and vlogging capabilities are its killer feature. Using the main camera with the cover screen, you get flagship-quality selfies with natural bokeh and crisp details. You can preview shots, use palm gestures to trigger recording, or prop the phone in camcorder mode for hands-free vlogging.

Galaxy Z Flip7

The cover screen supports Photo, Portrait, and Video modes, with options like Super Steady and AI Zoom too. As mentioned previously, you can record in 1080p@30fps (default ratio) or 4K@60fps (9:16). Showing the preview to subjects is a neat touch, and partial folding allows creative angles.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Review: Battery Life and Charging

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Z Flip7 sports a larger 4,300 mAh battery, an upgrade from the Z Flip6’s 4,000 mAh. During my usage period, it gave me about 4 to 5 hours of screen-on time with moderate to heavy use, including camera use, outdoor tasks, and some gaming.

On Wi-Fi with lighter use, I could probably stretch it to 6 hours. Heavy users may need two charges daily, especially with extensive camera use. The 25W wired charging takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes for a full charge, reaching 50% in 30 minutes.

Galaxy Z Flip7

It supports 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging, too, but the lack of faster wired charging or Qi2 support feels lacking.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7?

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is a love letter to flip phone lovers, with its jaw-dropping 4.1-inch cover screen, premium design, and FlexCam-powered camera system. One UI 8 and Galaxy AI deliver a polished, future-proof experience, while the Exynos 2500 handles most day-to-day tasks with ease. It’s the best flip phone you can buy today.

However, average battery life, slow charging, and the ultra-wide camera’s limitations hold it back from perfection. If you’re upgrading from a Z Flip5 or earlier, the Z Flip7’s is a no-brainer. For power users or those needing better battery life, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold7, OPPO Find X8 Pro or vivo X200 Pro are better picks.

Finally, don’t buy it just for the looks; but I won’t blame you if you do though. It’s easily the most fun I’ve had using a phone this year.
