Reasons for abandoning Galaxy S25 Plus

Samsung’s moving on from the Galaxy S25 Plus variant isn’t actually a shocker as in the past as well, the middle member of the Galaxy S-Series has struggled to meet sales expectations. This means users aren’t really fond of the Plus variant. Samsung first introduced the Plus model in 2020 as part of the Galaxy S20 Series which also included Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Note, and Galaxy S20 Ultra, which makes it four models. In 2021, Samsung streamlined it to three models dropping the Note variant and thus launching the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra with S-Pen support. This year too Samsung launched Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Doing away with the Plus model will simplify Samsung’s lineup and reduce the load of production on Samsung’s factory units. If we look at the features of the regular and Plus models launched in the last few years, we will notice how the difference between them has narrowed down and the only major difference is battery and screen size.
Dropping the Plus variant might also be Samsung’s strategic move to push consumers towards the Ultra model which obviously costs more. By removing the Plus option, the company might be hoping to entice users to buy the loaded Ultra model.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series: Expectations

Various details about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series have surfaced online. The regular Galaxy S25 version is expected to come with the same 50MP camera and 12MP selfie snapper. However, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to come with a 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 50MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 50MP 5x telephoto camera.
This time, the Galaxy S25 Series is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and officially launch in January 2025.
Galaxy S25 Ultra will pack batteries with model numbers EB-BS938ABE, and EB-BS938ABY, possibly a 5000mAh battery capacity. The Galaxy S25 will reportedly have a 4000mAh battery.
Since there are still almost six months to go before the launch, we still don’t know what Samsung is exactly planning for the Galaxy S25 Series. Things will get clearer in the last quarter of 2024. For now, the focus of the brand is on the Unpacked Event taking place next week (10th July) in Paris.
