Samsung Ties Up With Nota AI for On-Device Image Generation

Renowned tipster Evan Blass (@UniverseIce on X) has shared details about Samsung’s partnership with Korean AI firm Nota AI. As part of the collaboration, the two companies are working together on an “AI feature called EdgeFusion.”

Per the tipster, EdgeFusion “can generate images directly on the device in under one second based on text prompts.” Until now, we’ve seen text-to-image generation on smartphones, but it has been based on cloud services.

However, facilitating the functionality entirely on the device will make the process much faster. Further, it could improve the quality of the images generated and users’ “creative experiences.”

Why EdgeFusion Could Be a Big Deal

Samsung plans to integrate the new EdgeFusion feature into the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to break cover on February 25, 2026. Moreover, the collaboration is part of the company’s effort to “strengthen on-device AI image processing.”

It’s worth highlighting here that Samsung hasn’t confirmed or announced the EdgeFusion feature yet. Given how slim the Galaxy S26 series is running on hardware upgrades, it makes good sense for the company to improve all the software-based features.

Most recently, Samsung dropped three teasers about the camera capabilities of the Galaxy S26 series. The teasers showcase how the upcoming phones can capture vibrant videos in near pitch-dark environments and zoom in on small subjects at a distance.

Slim Hardware Upgrades, Smarter Software

Galaxy AI features not coming to the Galaxy S21 series

However, all the improvements seem to be based on the new and improved ISP or generative AI.

Besides the camera improvements, the only novel feature that the company has confirmed is a new Privacy Display, which will allow Galaxy S26 users to dim the brightness of their screen (when viewed at an angle) for selective portions.

Privacy Display Is the Only Confirmed New Feature

Unlike privacy screen protectors, which reduce the effective brightness of the entire screen, the new Privacy Display technology will give users more granular control over when the feature is active and which portion of the screen to hide. The feature will help in preventing shoulder surfing in public places.

Anyway, we’ll learn more details about the Galaxy S26 lineup in the coming days. So far, there’s been no significant leaks about the Indian pricing or the choice of chipset. Let’s hope Samsung is mindful of increasing the prices.
