Samsung Exynos 1080 chipset is all set to be official on November 12 and it’s Samsung’s chance to redeem itself after Exynos 990 that fell short of its contemporaries. Alongside the Exynos 1080 SoC, Samsung could also introduce a few more mid-range chips for the 2021 Galaxy lineup.

The Exynos 1080 has been popping up in news every now and then for the last month or so. Even the South Korean giant has confirmed its existence a couple of weeks ago.

The Exynos 1080 chipset is going to be a high-performance processor, this isn’t the one that’s going to be used for the Galaxy S21 series.

Samsung Exynos 1080 details

Samsung, in October, confirmed that the Exynos 1080 will be fabricated on a 5nm process node and feature ARM’s Cortex-A78 CPU cores and Mali-G78 GPU. ARM, which was acquired by NVIDIA recently, claims that the new Cortex-A78 on Exynos 1080 delivers a 20 percent performance increase compared to the Cortex-A77. The upcoming flagship mobile platform will have a built-in 5G modem.

The recently leaked Exynos 1080 benchmark scores also made a promising first impression. It was spotted on AnTuTu benchmark where it hit 693,600 points, beating Qualcomm’s best the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+ flagship chipsets.

Apart from Exynos 1080 SoC, Exynos 981 is also expected as it appeared in rumors last week. Samsung has been tight light lipped about Exynos 981 chipset so far. It is expected to be a 5G offering for Samsung’s Galaxy A and Galaxy M series in 2021. Samsung is hosting a press conference on November 12 in China. We will get to know all the technical details but Samsung then.
