TL; DR
- Siri will respond more naturally to general-knowledge questions, moving away from “canned” responses toward more fluid, human-like ones.
- Siri should also significantly improve at providing longer, narrative-style explanations for complex topics. The voice assistant should also be able to provide “emotional support-style” responses.
- Since Gemini can access several Google apps (such as Gmail, Calendar, and Maps), Siri should also have access to them to enable cross-app tasks.
Earlier this week, Apple and Google officially confirmed a multi-year partnership that will help the companies power their “Siri 2.0” ambitions. Instead of struggling to catch up with its own in-house models, Apple is handing the keys to Google’s 1.2-trillion-parameter Gemini model.
This isn’t just a minor update; it’s a total architectural overhaul expected to land with iOS 26.4 this spring. From providing genuine emotional support to booking your next vacation without you lifting a finger, here are the features we expect from the new, Gemini-powered Siri.

Beyond “I Found This on the Web”: Conversational Continuity

First and foremost, Siri will respond more naturally to general-knowledge questions, moving away from “canned” responses toward more fluid, human-like ones. Like Gemini AI assistant, Siri should also gain contextual continuity, allowing it to recall details from your previous conversations.
This should also lead to more relevant follow-up answers.
Siri should also significantly improve at providing longer, narrative-style explanations for complex topics. The voice assistant should also be able to provide “emotional support-style“- style responses, benefiting users who might turn to Siri for emotional support or guidance.
Cross-App Intelligence: Connecting the Dots from Mail to Maps

According to The Information, Gemini’s reasoning power could also enable Siri to handle multi-step tasks, such as travel or restaurant bookings. In theory, you should be able to tell Siri to “book a table at XYZ restaurant,” and it should be able to do so.
Since Gemini can access several Google apps (such as Gmail, Calendar, and Maps), Siri should also have access to them to enable cross-app tasks, such as finding the best burger joints near your house via Google Maps and saving them in the Notes app with their locations.
In the past, Apple has showcased an advanced version of Siri that can fetch someone’s flight and lunch reservation details based on relevant information in the Apple Mail and Messages apps. From what I can see, Gemini will help Siri achieve that.

Furthermore, Siri should be able to generate structured documents across apps. You should be able to ask Siri to convert a Notes document into one with subheads and proper formatting.
Apple’s Gemini-integrated Siri should improve at understanding the content on your screen and providing proactive suggestions by fetching information from third-party Google apps (such as Gmail) or native Apple apps (such as Calendar and Mail).
Last but not least, Google’s Gemini could also support the Summarizer and Planner features available in Apple’s Intelligence suite.
The 1.2-Trillion-Parameter Power-Up
According to older reports, the Gemini model powering Siri has 1.2 trillion parameters, which is much larger than the 150-billion-parameter Foundation Model Apple previously used for cloud-based Apple Intelligence features.
As noted in our previous coverage, the Gemini-powered Siri (likely without Google’s branding) is expected to arrive in March or April 2026 with iOS 26.4. While the AI-based assistant could arrive sooner, Apple might reserve some of the more advanced features for iOS 27 later this year.
