TL; DR
  • Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims that Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, the successor of the Snapdragon 8 Elite (released in 2024), could score over four million points on the AnTuTu benchmark.
  • The chipset could feature two 4.61 GHz prime cores, up from Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 4.32 GHz prime cores, along with the new Adreno 840 GPU (as opposed to the Adreno 830 on the current-generation chipset).
  • Qualcomm will unveil the chpiset during the Snapdragon Summit that will take kick off on September 23, 2025.

Qualcomm’s next big bet on the smartphone processor, the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, is about to arrive soon. While rumors about the chipset have been doing the rounds online for quite some time, the most recent (and the most interesting one) comes from China.

Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Successor To Set A New Benchmark Record

Qualcomm Snapdragon

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims that Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, the successor of the Snapdragon 8 Elite (released in 2024), could score over 4 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark.

Currently, the Snapdragon 8 Elite holds the title for Qualcomm’s most powerful smartphone processor, based on AnTuTu 10 benchmark scores. The chipset, in various configurations, scores around 2.7 million points on consumer-grade smartphones.

Consumer-Grade Smartphone Might Score Less

While a jump from 2.7 million points to 4 million might sound like a significant upgrade, that might not be the case for everyone. The chipset, which may be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, might not be able to achieve such a high score on consumer-grade smartphones.

There are several bottlenecks that impact a chipset’s peak performance, including, but not limited to, the type of memory and storage used with the device, as well as hardware-software optimization. This is why, even with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, handsets from different manufacturers perform differently.

Even so, you should expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s successor to provide a significant performance boost when compared to the current-generation model.

Rumored Prime Core Frequency And GPU Name

Qualcomm’s flagship processor could feature two 4.61 GHz prime cores, up from Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 4.32 GHz prime cores, along with the new Adreno 840 GPU (as opposed to the Adreno 830 on the current-generation chipset).

While Chinese brands like iQOO, Xiaomi, Honor, and OnePlus are already testing their upcoming flagships (for 2026) based on the chipset, it could also debut on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in a ‘for Galaxy’ avatar (with higher clock speeds).

Snapdragon Summit To Kick Off On September 23, 2025

For those catching up, the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite — Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 — will break cover during the Snapdragon Summit that is scheduled to take place from September 23-25, 2025, in Hawaii. As always, stay tuned to Smartprix to get a hands-on analysis of a device that runs the next Qualcomm flagship processor.
