TL;DR
There’s a good chance that the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset will break cover in or around March 2025.
The chipset will be a specced-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite launched earlier this year.
After releasing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 last year, Qualcomm also unveiled a modified version of the chipset, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Though the chipset used the same 3nm fabrication technology as the flagship variant, it came with a slightly lower clock speed, which reduced its peak performance.
Even so, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 delivers enough horsepower to feature on the high-end mid-range smartphones of 2024. Now, as we’re stepping into 2025, rumors about another ‘s’ series chipset are showing on the net. Most recently, a tipster has claimed the launch timeline of the Snapdragon 8s Elite processor.
Snapdragon 8s Elite Could Arrive By March 2025

Tipster Smart Pikachu claims that the Snapdragon 8s Elite could come out in the first quarter of next year. Further, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi will be the first to use the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset on its smartphone.
While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the name of the smartphone, it could be the Civi 5, the purported successor to the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro from March 2024. For those catching up, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in March 2024. Shortly after, Xiaomi revealed the first 8s Gen 3-powered handset.
Given that the tipped timeline matches with the current generation’s launch timeline, there’s a good chance that the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset will break cover in or around March 2025. For all intents and purposes, the chipset will be a specced-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite launched earlier this year.

The ‘s’ Series Chipset Will Offer a Slightly Lower Clock Speed Than Its Flagship Version
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 had a 3.3 GHz prime core, followed by three 3.15 GHz performance cores, two 2.96 GHz balanced cores, and two 2.27 GHz efficient cores. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 features one 3 GHz prime core, four 2.8 GHz performance cores, and three 2 GHz efficient cores.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite has two 4.32 GHz prime cores and six 3.53 GHz performance cores. Given that the Snapdragon 8s Elite is supposed to be a toned-down version of the chipset, it could feature 4.0 GHz prime cores (or even lower clock speed). However, this is just speculation, as there is no rumor or confirmation about the same on the internet.
More details about the Snapdragon 8s Elite and the Xiaomi Civi 5 should surface on the internet in the coming days.
