On Wednesday, Sony launched the WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds in India. They offer a flagship audio experience, carrying features like noise cancelation, ambient sound mode, high-resolution wireless audio, up to 12 hours of battery life, and quick charging. Here’s everything one needs to know about the new truly wireless earphones.

Sony WF-1000XM5 Features

The Sony WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds come with 8.4mm Dynamic Drivers X, which makes them better at producing low-end frequencies. They also have the company’s Processor V2 and HD Noise Canceling Processor QN2e. While the former generates high-quality digital music supporting LDAC (other codecs include SBC, AAC, and LC3), the latter is significantly better at cutting out low-frequency sounds from the background. The device also features an ambient noise mode that lets users stay connected to their environment.

They also feature new Noise Isolation Earbud Tips that use a special foam material that prevents high frequencies from entering the ear and interfering with the ongoing playback. Noise cancelation on the Sony WF-1000XM5 works in tandem with three microphones on each earbud. The mics also help reduce wind noise during hands-free calls with the Deep Neural Network-based AI algorithm. Other features include Google Fast Pair, Multipoint Connection, Head-Tracking, Auto Play, and 360 Reality Audio for better surround sound.

Regarding battery life, the Sony WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds can last up to eight hours with noise cancelation enabled, with an extra 16 hours in the charging case. Without noise cancelation, the listening time goes up to 12 hours, as the company claims. Further, users also get fast charging that gives them 60 minutes of listening time in a three-minute charge. The earphones also support Google and Alexa voice assistants and carry an IPX4 water resistance rating.

Sony WF-1000XM5 Price And Availability

The Sony WF-1000XM5 comes in two colors: Black and Platinum Silver. The earphones are available in India for Rs. 24,990. Starting September 27, 2023, interested customers can pre-book the device and get Rs. 3,000 cashback and the Sony SRS-XB100 portable Bluetooth speaker worth Rs. 4,990 for free. Moreover, the Sony WF-1000XM5 are premium wireless earbuds that compete with the likes of AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) and should attract several enthusiasts.
