Sony India has officially expanded its E-mount mirrorless camera line-up with α6400 (Model ILCE-6400). The brand-new camera includes the advanced technologies from Sony’s renowned full-frame lineup. Sony has included the world’s fastest autofocus (AF), advanced Real-time Eye Auto Focus and Real-time tracking capabilities.

Sony α6400 Is Betting Big On Autofocus Capabilities

The α6400 mirrorless camera features 425 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points that are densely placed over the entire image area, covering approximately 84% of the image area. According to Sony, the camera can lock autofocus (AF) on a subject in 0.02 seconds which makes it ideal for tracking and capturing fastest moving subjects.

That’s not all, the camera features the latest iteration of Sony’s acclaimed Eye AF technology. It uses AI-based object recognition to quickly detect and process eye data in real time. You could set eye movements to control the camera from a distance in different conditions. Though, the eye tracking feature will only be available after a software update which is slated for summer 2019.

AI is used again for object recognition as well as processing. This can be activated by a simple half-press of the shutter button or can be assigned to a custom function as well.

Sony α6400 Other Features

The Sony α6400 could appeal to a lot of Vloggers and selfie-enthusiasts. It comes with a full 3.0-type LCD flip screen (180-degree), which is touch-responsive. The display with 921k-dots of resolution that allows for simple and effective framing of selfie-style shooting for both still and video capture.

Sony α6400 camera supports 4K video recording with full pixel readout, and advanced AF speed and stability. The built-in interval recording can be set anywhere between 1 and 60 seconds, with a total number of shots from 1 to 9999.

AE tracking sensitivity can be adjusted to “High”, “Mid” or “Low” during interval shooting, allowing for reduced changes in exposure over the shooting interval. At 11 FPS mechanical shutter / 8 FPS silent shooting with continuous AF/AE tracking, you could continuously capture shots at high-speed.

The body is made of tough magnesium alloy, which claims to be dust and moisture resistant as well. Sony assures the quality and durability of the shutter too. You can seamlessly transfer files to a smartphone or tablet by using the Imaging Edge Mobile application.
