Tata Motors rides on EV success to surpass Hyundai to become second-largest automaker in India

Tata Motors has registered a record sales number in the year 2021 and has achieved the second position in the list beating Hyundai. The indigenous car maker has sold 3.31 lakh units of Tata cars in the previous year of 2021 which is the highest ever in number for the company. 

What do figures tell us?

Tata Motors has seen an upsurge of 50% in sale numbers with a monthly selling unit of 32,299. Also, the company has crossed the 2000 mark in selling its electric cars with a record number of 2,255 EVs in December 2021. On the other hand, Hyundai Motor India had sold 47,400 units in December 2020 which drops by 31.8% to 32,312 units in December 2021.

Tata Motors has done some deep R&D in developing its facelift cars over the last few years. The company has pushed its new launches to the next level which have helped it to achieve a better ranking among different vehicle manufacturers. 

The homegrown vehicle maker has launched a number of cars in different segments with improved features, more safety measures, new driving dynamics, and competitive prices. Putting light on the company’s current portfolio, Tata Nexon is leading the way with over 10,000 units sold alone in November 2021. Tata Altroz has brought good numbers to the company’s sales chart in 2021. The newly launched small SUV Tata Punch has also seen overwhelming growth since its launch.

Also, Tata Motors is setting its foot in the EV space of India with the most number of electric cars. The year 2022 is expected to bring some more good news for Tata in the automobile industry.
