India’s electric car market just got a fresh jolt. Tata Motors has officially launched the updated 2026 Punch.ev facelift, bringing larger battery packs, improved real-world range, and—perhaps most interestingly—a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model that could lower the entry barrier to EV adoption.
At a time when electric vehicles are steadily shifting from early adopters to everyday commuters, Tata’s smallest electric SUV is now trying to punch even harder.

2026 Tata Punch.ev: Variant-Wise Pricing
Given that the BaaS (battery-as-a-service) model has proven quite effective in the Indian market, Tata has adopted it for its latest EV.
Under the new BaaS model, the Punch.ev starts at ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Owners then pay a battery usage charge of ₹2.6 per km. For buyers hesitant about long-term battery degradation or upfront EV pricing, this model spreads the cost and reduces initial expenditure.
For those who prefer the traditional ownership route, the standard pricing (with battery included) ranges from ₹9.69 lakh to ₹12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open from today, and deliveries should begin shortly.
The Punch.ev is offered in five trims: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ S, with pricing listed below.
| Variant | Battery | Range (C75) | Price (Ex-Showroom) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smart MR | 30 kWh | 275 km | ₹9.69 Lakh |
| Smart+ MR | 30 kWh | 275 km | ₹10.29 Lakh |
| Smart+ LR | 40 kWh | 355 km | ₹10.89 Lakh |
| Adventure LR | 40 kWh | 355 km | ₹11.59 Lakh |
| Empowered LR | 40 kWh | 355 km | ₹12.29 Lakh |
| Empowered+ S LR | 40 kWh | 355 km | ₹12.59 Lakh |

The car supports 65kW DC fast charging, enabling 20-80% in 26 minutes, which translates to around 135 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes (which is usually the duration of a tea or coffee stop for drivers).
The battery architecture supports V2L (powering external appliances) and V2V (charging another EV). Tata is also offering a lifetime battery warranty (15 years for the first owner) on 40 kWh variants, a strong statement of confidence in its battery tech.

2026 Tata Punch.ev: Design

Built on Tata’s acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle) architecture, the facelifted Punch.ev looks noticeably more refined, with sleeker, modern design elements.
Among the key design updates are a cleaner front bumper (with the chunky black cladding at the bottom replaced with gray air vents), eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, and a triangular LED headlamp housing at the end.
The side profile of the EV remains the same as the outgoing model, with a tall silhouette, hidden rear door handles, thick A-, B-, and C-pillars, up to 16-inch alloy wheels on the top variants (with a slightly tweaked, aero-optimised design), and a 195 mm ground clearance.
On the back, the car features connected LED tail lamps, revised tail lamp graphics, a redesigned bumper with thicker gray cladding, and a faux silver skid plate.

On the inside, 2026 Punch.ev gets a new dual-tone “Udaipur” theme with a modern two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, twin 10.25-inch displays (infotainment + digital cockpit), Arcade.ev 2.0 suite (games & OTT apps when stationary), ventilated front seats, wireless charging, voice-assisted sunroof, and 90-degree opening doors.

2026 Tata Punch.ev: Safety Features
First of all, the Punch.ev builds upon its predecessor’s 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. The standard safety kit includes six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, and ISOFIX mounts.
On the higher variants, the car offers a 360-degree blind-spot view monitor, high-beam alert, disc brakes on all four wheels, and an IP67-rated motor and battery. Safety remains one of Tata’s biggest selling points in the EV segment.
2026 Tata Punch.ev: Rivals

The Punch.ev competes with the Citroën eC3, MG Windsor EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and, indirectly, with the larger Tata Nexon EV.
The updated 2026 model doesn’t radically reinvent the Punch.ev experience. Instead, it sharpens what already worked: practicality, affordability, range confidence, and safety. Add a clever BaaS model to the mix, and Tata has essentially widened the funnel for EV adoption.
