TL; DR
- Tata Sierra’s ARAI mileage ranges from 15.30 kmpl (turbo-petrol AT) to 21.26 kmpl (diesel MT).
- The car offers three engine options across five powertrain combinations, starting at Rs 11.49 lakh.
- It has crossed 20,000 deliveries and earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating since its November 2025 launch.
Tata Motors didn’t reveal the official mileage figures of the Sierra at launch, and even so, buyers kept showing up at dealerships, booking the spacious SUV and taking deliveries all day, every day. In fact, an RTI filed by an X account informed us of the official mileage figures for some models, but it still didn’t cover all powertrains.
Roughly half a year after its official announcement, Tata Motors has finally revealed the ARAI mileage figures for all five powertrains. While the diesel options make a strong case for themselves, the petrol ones are truly for enthusiasts or commuters who run long, steady speeds. Let’s have a look at the official Tata Sierra mileage figures.

How Efficient Is The Tata Sierra Across Its Engine Options?

- First, the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine returns 17.40 kmpl with the six-speed manual transmission and 16.90 kmpl with the seven-speed DCT transmission. To be honest, these are quite reasonable figures, especially considering the car’s kerb weight.
- The more powerful 1.5L turbo petrol engine, paired exclusively with a six-speed torque converter automatic, offers 15.30 kmpl, which, in all fairness, reflects the fuel cost of the added power and torque figures.
- The real headline, however, is the 1.5L diesel engine, which delivers an impressive 21.26 kmpl with the manual and 19.22 kmpl with the automatic version, which are quite competitive in the sub-Rs. 20 lakh segment.

While the 1.5L NA engine caters to daily drivers (those who cover short distances), the turbo-petrol engine is better suited for enthusiasts, while the diesel engine is appropriate for buyers who clock significant daily kilometers.
Why Do The Official Mileage Figures Matter?
Mileage is a decisive factor for many Indian car buyers. Even though the ARAI-certified numbers don’t reflect the actual mileage buyers can achieve (it could be higher on the highway or lower in city traffic), they serve as a reliable benchmark for comparison, helping buyers shortlist, budget for fuel costs, and weigh powertrain options against each other.
With the Sierra already being a hit among the Indian buyers — the company has delivered 20,000 cars since January 2026 — the official mileage figures come less as a surprise and more as the final seal of approval on the compact SUV that clearly struck a chord with the subcontinent’s buyers.
