Do you need help finding the keyboard shortcuts on Windows 11? You accidentally enabled Sticky Keys. Sticky keys disable the simultaneous pressing of keyboard shortcuts and render them useless. So, no matter how much you press your favourite keyboard shortcut, it will not work.

What are Sticky Keys?

Sticky Keys is an accessibility feature in Windows that allows users to trigger a keyboard shortcut by pressing the keys consecutively instead of simultaneously. 

For example, instead of pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del at the same time, you can press Ctrl, release it, then press Alt, and finally, press Del. This can be useful for users who have difficulty pressing multiple keys at once or if you literally have Sticky keys.

3 Ways to Turn Off Sticky Keys 

The Sticky keys feature is enabled by pressing the Shift key several times in succession; 5 times to be precise. Unfortunately, this can be triggered accidentally and become an absolute aggravation. Here are three ways to turn Sticky keys off. 

1. Using the Keyboard Shortcut

The easiest way to turn off Sticky keys is to use the keyboard shortcut. Simply press the Shift key on your keyboard 5 times and you should be good to go.

2. From the Settings App

You can also turn off the Sticky keys from within the Settings app. Follow the steps below.

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Select Accessibility from the menu on the left.

3. Click on Keyboard.

4. Finally, turn off the toggle next to Sticky keys.

3. From the Action Center

Sticky keys can also be turned off from the Action center directly. Note that this feature will only be available if you have the option in the Settings enabled. Otherwise, you’ll have to resort to other options. Follow the steps below.

1. Open the Action centre—click on the Wi-Fi, Sound, and Battery icons on the far right of the taskbar or press the Windows key + A.

2. Click on Accessibility.

How to Turn Off Sticky Keys Shortcut 

If you find the keyboard shortcut for enabling Sticky Keys inconvenient, you can turn it off by following the steps below:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Select Accessibility from the menu on the left.

3. Click on Keyboard.

4. Click on the “Sticky keys” option.

5. In the Sticky Keys settings, turn off the toggle next to “Keyboard shortcut for Sticky keys.”
