Although its target audience could be small, Google is apparently testing a dedicated Gemini app for iOS. Most recently, a Reddit user spotted the app in the App Store. With a standalone app, Google could provide faster updates and new features to iPhone users who prefer to use Google’s Gemini AI assistant.

Dedicated Google Gemini App Spotted On App Store By One User

User Spots A Standalone Google Gemini App For iPhone Users, Allows Access To Gemini Live

According to a report by 9To5Google, “at least one iPhone user” has spotted a standalone Google Gemini app on the Apple App Store. This could potentially change how iPhone users interact with Gemini Live.

For now, using Gemini on iOS entails downloading the Google app and then switching to the Gemini tab. However, the new app could change this, allowing users to interact with Gemini Live directly without downloading any other app. When installed, the app appears on the home screen with Gemini’s logo.

The App Will Allow iPhone Users To Access Gemini Live

However, so far, only one user (lostshenanigans/Reddit) from the Philippines has been able to download the app. “I got a prompt when I opened my home shortcut of the Gemini web app/webpage and directed me to the App Store.” As seen in the screenshots shared by the user, the Google Gemini app on the App Store lets users interact with Gemini Live with their voice.

“Chats are saved, and you can resume them anytime. To stop saving chats, turn off Gemini Apps Activity,” reads a message at the top of the screen. Further, the app seems to be leveraging the Live Activities feature on iPhone to remain active in the background. However, the Google Gemini app doesn’t seem to have the same user interface as the app on the Play Store for Android users.

Streamlined Features And Updates Via Dedicated Google Gemini App

From what it looks like, Google has resorted to testing the app with a particular audience before rolling it out to iPhone users around the world. As mentioned in the report, the App Store listing doesn’t appear in the United States. We could not spot the listing either.

The App Store link showed us the following message: “This app is currently not available in your country or region.” You can check the app listing through this link: “https://apps.apple.com/app/id6477489729.”
