Messaging application WhatsApp keeps working on updates to make the experience even better for its users. The latest news is that the messaging app is working on some new features for Microsoft Windows. The Meta-owned app has started testing one of the most anticipated features for Windows- screen sharing. This update will allow Windows users to allow screens share during a WhatsApp video call.
According to WABetaInfo WhatsApp is testing a screen-sharing option during video calls, similar to what Microsoft Teams and Google Meet already have. The publication claims that the latest update for WhatsApp Windows version 2.2322.1.0 is now available on Microsoft Store and is compatible with this new feature.
Those who have enrolled themselves as beta testers of WhatsApp for Windows can experiment, and test the new feature while making video calls through the screen-sharing option. With this option, WhatsApp will allow the host to display the content on their screen to others.
Earlier this update for reported to be available for WhatsApp for Android beta with Android 2.23.11.19 update. After Beta testing, the feature will roll out for a wider audience with future updates.
How to use the screen-sharing feature on WhatsApp
A screenshot was shared by WABetaInfo that showcased how the new screen-sharing feature on WhatsApp will work.
According to the screenshots, once the feature becomes available, users will be able to share the content of their screen by selecting the corresponding option from the video call control panel.
When you select the option, you will be prompted to choose between sharing a specific window or the entire contents of their screen with everyone connected to the video call.
This feature will only enable users to share their screen with others, including those who are connected to the call from mobile devices, if they initiate the video call using the Windows app.
WABetaInfo claims that WhatsApp will have access to all the information that is visible on your screen or played from your device while using the screen-sharing feature. This will include sensitive info like passwords, payment details, messages, photos, and audio. WhatsApp will also allow the user to have full control over the screen-sharing feature like other apps. They can stop sharing the screen at any time during the call by clicking on the “Stop Sharing Screen” button. This will allow users to maintain their privacy.
Edit Message for Windows
WhatsApp Beta is also receiving the new edit message feature. This will allow users to edit their messages providing them with the ability to correct any typos or add content they may have missed in the original message. Windows version 2.2322.1.0 is marked as a compatible update for this feature. Users will have an “Edit” option within the message menu, allowing them to edit their text messages. However, permission to edit will be for 15 minutes after sending the message, not beyond that.
WhatsApp New Features for Android Users
- The layout of the main WhatsApp window has changed as you will now see the chats, calls, communities, and status tabs at the bottom of the page.
- Chat Lock feature will allow people to be able to put a fingerprint lock on their super personal chats that they want no one to see.

- WhatsApp has added new text overlay tools for Status, including updated fonts and background colors.
- Now, one will not need to tap on GIFs as they will automatically play once you get one on WhatsApp chats.
