The Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is about to release a new user interface for Android users. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the new user interface is already rolling out to beta testers. It has redesigned icons, a new background color, and appears cleaner. Here’s everything new about the major WhatsApp overhaul coming for Android users.

WhatsApp Beta For Android Gets New User Interface

The new WhatsApp user interface is rolling out for Android beta version 2.23.21.12. As seen in the image shared by the WhatsApp updates tracker, it aligns with the new Material Design 3 schematics. Instead of having the menu bar at the top, the redesigned WhatsApp for Android has the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, where it’s currently available in the app’s iOS version.

The group chat icon and WhatsApp’s in-app logo (with a new font) seem to have adopted a new shade of green. The chat bubbles and action buttons also look refined. In the light mode, the app has a white background, while in the dark mode, the new user interface applies a dark shade of gray.

The New User Interface Has A Minimal Look

Although the image doesn’t show how personal chats or users’ profile pictures will look in the home section, it contains a sight of how group chats would look, and there’s not much of a change there. Moreover, the redesign gives the app a minimal look, but the fundamentals remain the same.

Apart from beta testers, the new update is also available for WhatsApp Business beta. In the coming weeks, WhatApp should release the new user interface for more testers, and eventually, it will push it as part of a stable update through the Google Play Store.
