TL; DR
  • Tipster @MysteryLupin (via X) has leaked the alleged global price of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
  • Given that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also rumored to launch in India, a converted price of Rs. 1.60 lakh is a tad concerning.
  • For a much higher price, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s global unit could feature a smaller battery.

A new leak has shed some light on the global pricing of the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the numbers raise a few eyebrows. The flagship could debut internationally at a steep ultra-premium price, positioning it above several well-established rivals.

This becomes particularly interesting given the phone’s expected launch in India, where buyers are already spoiled for choice in the high-end segment.

An Ultra-Premium Price in a Crowded Flagship Market

Tipster @MysteryLupin (via X) has leaked the alleged global price of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The handset could command an ultra-premium price of €1499 (or about Rs. 1,60,100) for the variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Given that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also rumored to launch in India, a converted price of Rs. 1.60 lakh is a tad concerning, especially since buyers already have the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review) for around Rs. 1.25 lakhs and the iPhone 17 Pro Max for Rs. 1.50 lakhs.

In China, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is available for CNY 7,499, which is about Rs. 96,000. Hence, asking for a 66% premium in the global market might lead to poor sales, especially when buyers have plenty of other options (Android flagships) to choose from.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

We already know that Xiaomi didn’t release the phone’s 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant in China this year. Instead, it offers the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 12GB of RAM (not 16GB) and 512GB of storage for CNY 6,999. There’s a 16G variant as well, but it costs CNY 500 more than it did last year.

For a much higher price, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s global unit could feature a smaller battery. It could be due to regulatory requirements outside China, but the 17 Ultra’s global variant is said to feature a 6,000 mAh battery (down from the 6,800 mAh battery on the local units).

Finally, the phone could be available globally in three finishes: White, Black, and Green. The purple shade, which looks quite elegant, might not be successful outside the company’s home market.
