Xiaomi has left no leaf unturned when it comes to creating the buzz around Mi 9. The features and hardware specs were almost entirely teased by the company in the recent weeks building to its launch. Now that it’s officially unveiled in China, let’s have a walk down the memory lane and revisit what’s exciting about this 2019 flagship.

Xiaomi Mi 9: Flagship worthy Features

Straight off the bat, the phone’s visage flaunts a 6.4-inch FHD + AMOLED display. The display made by Samsung is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. You would find a familiar a waterdrop notch upfront. This houses a 20MP Sony IMX576 sensor.

Before we flip to the back, thumbs to the concealed fingerprint reader within the display. Xiaomi touts few display features like Reading Mode 2.0, Sunlight Mode 2.0, Screen Dimming mode,  to improve readability in all conditions.

Now to the back, you would find a vertically mounted triple shooter. The primary one is a 48MP Sony IMX586 camera with 0.8 µm pixel size and 1/2” image sensor that uses Pixel Binning technology to produce 12MP shots.

The second one is a 16MP secondary Ultra-wide sensor(117-degree FoV and f/2.2 aperture). And finally, a telephoto lens with 12 MP sensor (1.0 µm pixel size and f/2.2 aperture) for 2X optical zoom.

Xiaomi equips the rear setup with Laser Autofocus that brings along PDAF and CDAF. The vertically aligned triple shooter is shielded by a sapphire glass protection. Mi 9 also supports videography at the highest resolution of 2160p/30fps and super slow-mo videos at 960 fps.

Like the impressive externalities, the internal hardware also screams strong specifications. Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by a 2.4Ghz Snapdragon 855 chipset with X50 modem meaning 5G support. These raw specs are coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

Xiaomi has adhered to the battery requirement to sustain the performance with a 3,500mAh power cell. This comes with 27W fast charging support and a circular wireless charger that refuels up to 20W charging speeds.

Unlock the device to be welcomed by a familiar MIUI skin on Android 9 Pie OS. Interestingly enough, the International variant of the phone sports a dedicated Google Assistant button. Its homeland iteration features a different assistant.

Xiaomi has baked various other attractive features like Game Turbo service, a quicker multi-functional NFC chip, Always-On color display, Dual-Frequency GPS, IR Blaster and a Smart Antenna feature for better network reception.

Xiaomi Mi 9 sports a holographic design that is available in gradients like Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue, and Piano Black hues. The reflective glass back shows different colors based on tilts. You could also grab the Battle Angel edition with a transparent rear panel.
