Xiaomi has announced a pair of smart glasses called Xiaomi Smart Glasses. While Xiaomi Smart Glasses look like normal sunglasses, they are integrated with sensors and imaging systems that allow a variety of smart features, including real-time text translation and navigation.

They are equipped with MicroLED optical waveguide technology that displays messages and notifications on the glasses. In addition to making calls, taking photos, and translating text within your field of vision, Xiaomi Smart Glasses can also use augmented reality (AR) to enable navigation. Now, at the time of their announcement, it is just “Technology Concept” and we are not sure when or if it would end up as a final consumer product.

Xiaomi Smart Glass Features

Xiaomi Smart Glasses have a square frame with a band at the top. Sensors are most likely encapsulated in the band that sits above the ears. MicroLEDs are said to have a higher pixel density and sport better colors and contrasts. Also, the display chip measures just 2.4×2.02mm and weighs only 51 grams. The display of Xiaomi’s phone is approximately the size of a grain of rice, while its individual pixels measure four micrometers. So, the overall thing should be compact and lightweight.

Including miniature sensors and communication modules, the Xiaomi Smart Glasses integrate 497 components in total. It provides teleprompting capabilities and real-time text and image translations, along with autonomous tasks such as navigation and taking photos. Furthermore, Xiaomi claims to minimize interruptions and display pertinent notifications at critical times with its smart glasses.

Xiaomi AI assistant is also available for voice commands on the new Xiaomi Smart Glasses. This is known as the ‘primary interaction method’. Filtered notifications will appear only on the glasses. Priority will be given to smart home alarms, urgent information from office apps, and messages from important contacts. Dual beam-forming microphones and speakers are built into the new glasses to enable phone calls. Furthermore, Xiaomi Smart Glasses can display maps and roads in real-time, so you can keep your eyes on the road.
