Xiaomi’s 80W wireless charging beats 125W wired Charging from OPPO and Realme

Manufacturers are putting a lot R&D effort into fast charging technologies, which is understandable because fast charging is very marketable and does make a meaningful difference by helping consumers shed some battery anxiety.

Xiaomi has announced 80W fast Wireless charging on microblogging website Weibo that can charge 50% of a 4000mAh battery in just 8 minutes and fully top it up in 19! That’s 1 minute Faster than what OPPO’s 125W SuperVOOC and Realme’s 125W UltraDart tech take to charge a same size battery.

Xiaomi was already ahead in the race with its MI 10 Ultra that charges wirelessly at 50W and takes 39 minutes to top up 4500mAh battery. Currently, Oppo and Huawei are tied for the second spot with their 40W wireless charging on Reno Ace and P40 plus, respectively.

The company hasn’t announced any upcoming phone that shall include this charging or how much an 80W fast charger would cost. The Demo video on YouTube has a modified version of Mi 10 pro.
