Telecom Providers And Their Obsession With Complementary Services

To keep subscribers from abandoning their services, telecom providers in the country have often provided complimentary access to third-party services.

For Bharti Airtel, it has been the Perplexity Pro (12-month) subscription that has turned a lot of heads, while for Jio, it has been the Google AI Pro Access (including Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB cloud storage, and AI image/video tools) for 18 months.

As the telecom wars intensify in the region, expect providers to offer more aggressive complementary services or access to OTT platforms.
