Cupertino-based tech giant Apple hosted a ‘Glowtime’ launch event on 9th September wherein the brand rolled out the annual iPhone 16 Series including four models along with Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple AirPods 4. While Apple talks about major advancements it brings to the newest iPhones, the brand hardly talks about bumped-up charging speeds which is a huge development this year. Though the slightly increased battery life was hinted at, there was absolutely no mention of the charging speed becoming faster. However, now we do have details regarding this increased charging speed. Read on to know more.

According to a new certification from the China Quality Certification Centre, all four iPhone 16 models will support up to 45W of wired fast charging speed through a USB-C port. This has been spotted by ShrimpApplePro on X and the certification has confirmed that the iPhone 16 Series tested at 5 to 15 volts and 3 amps which means up to 45W.
If we compare, 45W is 50% faster than the charging speed seen on the iPhone 15 Series which was 27-29W, not even touching 30W. During the launch event, Apple did mention that MagSafe will offer up to 25W charging speed when used with the correct power adapter, but wired charging wasn’t talked about.
This isn’t a surprise as Apple hardly ever comments on wired charging speeds. Many iPhones can charge with over 25W speed, but all Apple ever mentions is you can fast charge via a 20W USB-C brick.
