Apple has launched the iPhone 16 Series globally as well as in India. The iPhone 16 Series includes four models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The dimensions and weight of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 14 are almost similar. While the iPhone 14 measured 146.7×71.5×7.80mm and weighed 172 grams, the iPhone 16 measures 147.6×71.6×7.80mm and weighs 170 grams. Both the devices are rated IP68 for a maximum depth of up to 6m for 30 minutes.
The design of the iPhone 16 is more refined than the iPhone 14. iPhone 14 had an aluminum glass back and came in blue, purple, yellow, midnight, starlight, and product red shades. This year’s iPhone 16 has an aluminum with color-infused glass back and comes in ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black shades.

This year’s iPhone 16 flaunts an advanced 48MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera at the back. Video recording has been bumped up from 4K only to 4K Dolby Vision recording with spatial video and macro video also possible.
The front camera has the same 12MP sensor, but now it has Smart HDR for 5 Photos instead of 4 and allows 4K Dolby Vision recording and Quick Take Video up to 4K at 60fps.

Siri is more natural, contextually relevant, and personal with Apple Intelligence support. OS on iPhone 16 comes with more layers of security and more interactive features like Genmoji as well.
What has remained the same are sensors, audio playback, authentication methods, cellular and wireless options, and peace of mind with Emergency SOS and Crash Detection.

The battery hasn’t received much upgrade, but there’s still a slight boost. iPhone 14 offers up to 20 hours of playback time, while iPhone 16 bumps up to 22 hours. Both are lithium-ion batteries with MagSafe, Qi2, and Qi wireless charging. iPhone 14 and iPhone 16 batteries can be recharged to 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W adapter. iPhone 16 is also compatible with a 30W adapter or higher paired MagSafe charger. But this will have to be purchased separately. A major difference is in the charging port as the iPhone 14 had a lighting USB 2 port while iPhone 16 had a USB-C port.

The price is obviously more for iPhone 16 than iPhone 14.

iPhone 16 has an upgraded display, chipset, battery, and OS when compared to iPhone 14, but these aren’t major upgrades barring the chipset and camera. Though the design mostly has the same color options, the finish has been changed. The storage options remain the same, but the pricing has been increased. If a better camera, better battery life and faster performance are what you are looking for, then you might want to pay around 20k more for the iPhone 16; otherwise, you can continue with your iPhone 14 if it still is in pristine condition.
