Qualcomm has listed a new 5G chipset named Snapdragon 778G. This is a 6 nm-based processor and in contrast to its name, this is a slight upgrade over the Snapdragon 780G. Structurally, it runs a Cortex A78-based custom Kryo 670 prime core clocked at 2.4GHz, coupled with three Cortex-A78 cores ticking at 2.2GHz, and four efficiency Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.9GHz. The GPU is now Adreno 642L, which supports Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL 3S 3.1, and OpenCL 2.0 FP.

The performance is also complemented by 6th gen Hexagon 770 DSP, AI computations at 12 TOPS, and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.

Rest, the die also holds a triple 14-bit Spectra 570 ISP that supports up to 192MP single camera, or up to 36MP+22MP dual-camera setup, or up to 22MP triple camera setup. Furthermore, the chip facilitates 144Hz FHD+ displays with 10-bit HDR and Rec2020 color coverage, photo captures in HEIF / HEIC format, AI-based autofocus, multi-frame noise reduction, and video recording at HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and 720p/240fps slow-mos.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, USB 3.1, USB-C, and 5G thanks to Snapdragon X53 modem-RF system (with promised peak download speeds of 3.3Gbps). This includes both mmWave (400Mhz bandwidth with 2×2 MIMO) and sub-6 GHz (100Mhz bandwidth with 4×4 MIMO) frequencies.

And among other things, there is Qualcomm 3D Sonic and 3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensors, and Quick Charge 5 fast charging.

There is very little known about the availability of this chip at the moment. Globally, it could see the daylight on May 19. And finally, according to a Chinese tipster, Honor 50 could be the first phone to feature this SoC.
