Amid current COVID-19 pandemic, one of India’s largest e-commerce firm Walmart-owned Flipkart has temporarily closed down all its services in the interest of customers in accordance with the Government advisories.
In order to convey the new development to its customers, Flipkart has put a banner on its homepage saying “Hello Fellow Indians, We are temporarily suspending our services”. In the end, they added, “ We urge you to Stay Home to Stay Safe! We will get there. And we will get through. Together”.
Due to the national lockdown declared by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24, several e-commerce sites like Amazon, Tata Cliq, Myntra, Snapdeal, Pepperfry, Grofers, Big Basket, and other have also suspended their services either completely or partially. There are few exemptions for e-commerce sites that can still serve their customers like online pharmacies, medical equipment, and food deliveries, in the midst of lockdown. Logistics are greatly disturbed, resulting in a shakedown of the overall services.

The central and state governments have advised all citizens to stay at their homes. The authorities have clearly explained through all mediums that social distancing is the only method to break the chain of coronavirus spread. The Health Ministry data states that there are about 562 coronavirus cases in India as of March 25.
