As we are inching close to the launch of the rumored Galaxy Watch Active 2, Fossil has accidentally revealed its Gen 5 watch running Wear OS. Fossil Australia product page is the culprit. It exhibits some images, along with the key spec details.

So, without any further ado, let’s get to the specs and features.

Straight off the bat, the quintessential element of any smart wear is the inherent software. Here we have the Wear OS by Google. For those of you who don’t know, Wear OS, previously called Android Wear is the custom-built Android operating system (4.4+) for smartwatches and other wearables. Its feature-rich with a slew of connectivity options and apps. The compatibility with Apple iOS is simply icing on the cake.

The watch has a round face and the case dimensions stretch to 44mm. It is available in 3 color variants- Smoke Stainless Steel, Black, and Dark Brown Leather.

You get Google Assistant as a goodie out of the box. The product listing page highlights the benefits of Google Assistant. You can summon the assistant to get weather updates, set reminders, live-translations, and answer to almost every question. Especially, if you own an Android phone, you get to answer calls right on your wrist, hear responses from Google Assistant and listen to your favorite tunes with Gen 5’s new speaker.

Yes, there’s a speaker on the watch.

Although the advert brags a longer 36-hour battery life, the size of the battery isn’t mentioned. The smart battery modes might help the endurance to some extent.

The core specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. It is equipped with Bluetooth 4.2, a laundry list of sensors such as Accelerometer, Altimeter, Ambient Light, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Microphone, NFC, and Untethered GPS.

Health and fitness tracking is a key ingredient of smart wearables. The ad claims the built-in heart-rate sensor as battery-efficient. It will also pack Cardiogram, Sleep tracking, activity tracking, and Google Fit.

While the contemporaries support water resistance upto 5 ATM or so, Fossil Gen 5 supports only upto 3 ATM.

The watch will have Google Pay, customizable dials, untethered GPS, and Watch Apps support. The display projects 328 PPI. You also get to enjoy Nike Run Club, Spotify, etc and more from the Google Play Store.

The Fossil Gen 5 watch has officially released at £279.00 in the U.K. We are yet to know any details on the Indian availability.
