Samsung’s Galaxy lineup never fails to create tough buying decisions, and today, I’m here with one that’s leaving thousands of buyers scratching their heads. On one side, you have the newly-launched Galaxy S25 FE, which offers a massive screen, a bigger battery, and two additional years of software support.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 (review), still among the most popular handsets in the company’s portfolio, is being re-released in the Indian market with an improved Snapdragon chipset and a jaw-dropping price. So, should you splurge your money on the new S25 FE, or get your hands on the compact Galaxy S24? Let’s find out.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Design

Dimensions & Weight

  • Galaxy S25 FE: 161.3 x 76.6 x 7.4 mm; 190 grams
  • Galaxy S24: 147 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm; 167 grams

Between the two phones, the Galaxy S25 FE is noticeably bigger, but, at the same time, thinner. However, the phone is 23 grams heavier.

Materials

The S25 FE and the S24 utilize Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ and Victus 2, respectively, for the front and back panels. The side frame uses aluminum.

Design

When it comes to design, the S25 FE and the S24 are pretty similar. Both phones feature a punch-hole screen at the front, symmetrical bezels (except for the thick chin on the S25 FE), and a flush camera setup with three sensors that protrude from the back panel.

Colors

  • Galaxy S25 FE: Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy, White
  • Galaxy S24: Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow, Jade Green, Sandstone Orange, Sapphire Blue

Water Resistance

Both handsets come with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, which makes them suitable for surviving in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Display

The Galaxy S25 FE features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (385 ppi), a variable refresh rate (1-120Hz), and a peak brightness of 1900 nits.

The Galaxy S24, on the other hand, has a smaller 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (416 ppi), a variable refresh rate (1-120Hz), and a peak brightness of 2600 nits.

Keeping the difference in screen size aside, the Galaxy S24 offers a brighter screen, which should directly enhance its visibility under direct sunlight.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Performance

Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 FE features the Exynos 2400 (4nm), which offers a 3.2GHz prime core, two 2.9GHz performance cores, three 2.6GHz balanced cores, and four 1.95GHz balanced cores. Aside from the CPU, the chipset features an Xclipse 940 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage (UFS 3.1 on the 128GB and the UFS 4.0 on the 256GB and 512GB variants).

In our review of the Galaxy S25 FE, we achieved approximately 1.8 million points on the AnTuTu 11 benchmark and 1,977/6,659 points on the single/multi-core Geekbench 6 CPU test. We did notice that the device gets hot under sustained loads, but it can still manage around 45 to 48 FPS on Genshin Impact and around 57.1 FPS on BGMI. Moreover, the phone offers decent performance, good enough for your run-of-the-mill, staple tasks.

The Galaxy S24, particularly the re-released version, is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4nm) SoC, which features a 3.39GHz prime core, three 3.1GHz performance cores, two 2.9GHz balanced cores, and 2.2GHz efficient cores. Beyond the CPU, the chipset features the Adreno 750 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage (UFS 4.0 on the 256GB).

The chipset is slightly faster than the Exynos 2400 on the S25 FE, as evidenced by its performance in synthetic benchmarks. For instance, the phone scores around 2 million points on the AnTuTu 10 benchmark and approximately 2100/7100 points in the single/multi-core Geekbench 6 CPU benchmarks. The chipset also performs better under sustained workloads.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Optics

Galaxy S25 FEGalaxy S24
Primary Camera50 MP (f/1.8, 1/1.57″, OIS)50 MP (f/1.8, 1/1.56″, OIS)
Ultrawide Camera12 MP (f/2.2, 123˚, 1/3.0″)12 MP (f/2.2, 120˚, 1/2.55″)
Telephoto Camera8 MP (f/2.4, 1/4.4″, OIS) 3x optical zoom10 MP (f/2.4, 1/3.94″, OIS) 3x optical zoom
Front Camera12 MP (f/2.2, 1/3.2″)12 MP (f/2.2, 1/3.2″)

Both the Galaxy S25 FE and the Galaxy S24 feature a triple camera setup, but with a few differences.

For instance, the telephoto camera on the S25 FE isn’t as sharp (8MP vs. 10MP) and significantly smaller than the one on the S24 (1/4.4″ vs. 1/3.94″), implying that it may not perform as well under poor lighting conditions. On the other hand, the S25 FE’s ultrawide camera has a broader field of view (123° vs. 120°), despite having a smaller sensor (1/3.0″ vs. 1/2.55″).

Hence, in both cases, the S24 seems to have an upper hand in terms of camera sensor size, which is one of the key metrics when determining the overall quality of the cameras. Apart from that, both phones have a 12MP (f/2.2, 1/3.2″) selfie camera that can record 4K 60 fps videos, support 8K video recording at 30 fps from the primary camera, and 4K video recording at 60 fps.

Both phones come with Galaxy AI features, including Audio Eraser, Generative Edit, and Sketch to Edit.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Software

One Ui 8

Out of the box, the Galaxy S25 FE runs on One UI 8 based on Android 16, with a promise to receive seven years of operating system and security updates. Although the user interface doesn’t receive many updates beyond One UI 7.0, it includes features such as the Now Bar, support for Live Activities, Galaxy AI features like AI Summary and AI Keyboard, natural language search in Settings, and Circle to Search.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 with One UI 6 based on Android 14, but it will support the phone until Android 21. For now, the handset runs on One UI 7, but in October, it will receive the latest One UI 8 update, which includes all the system app improvements, along with Galaxy AI features. So, if you look at the software side of things, both phones offer a similar experience, except the Galaxy S25 FE is going to last you longer.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Battery Life & Charging

The Galaxy S25 FE features a 4,900 mAh battery that provides up to seven hours on a single charge (in the Light performance profile) and up to five to six hours (in the Standard profile). The handset also supports 45W wired charging, which takes approximately 1 hour and 12 minutes to charge the phone fully. There is also support for 15W wireless charging.

The Galaxy S24 features a smaller 4,000 mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. However, even with the smaller battery, the phone offers around five to six hours of screen-on time, based on your usage time. The slower charging could be a con for some buyers, but it shouldn’t take longer given the battery’s size.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Connectivity

Although the S25 FE has hit the market roughly one and a half years after the Galaxy S24, it offers the same connectivity options. For instance, both phones support Wi-Fi 6e, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port.

The S25 FE does support Bluetooth v5.4, but it doesn’t provide any tangible benefits over the Galaxy S24’s Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity. Both phones support 5G connectivity.

Galaxy S25 FE vs. Galaxy S24: Price & Conclusion

Galaxy S25 FE Price

The Galaxy S25 FE will go on sale in India from September 29, 2025. Furthermore, Samsung is offering a complimentary storage upgrade: buyers who purchase the 256GB variant will receive the 512GB variant at no additional cost, a value of Rs. 12,000. Additionally, buyers can claim a cashback of Rs. 5,000, reducing the effective price of all handsets.

If you’re not worried about the peak performance, and you want a big-screen phone that can do almost everything you throw at it, the Galaxy S25 FE could be the right phone for you. On top of that, the phone will last you two more years than the Galaxy S24. Last but not least, the phone will last you longer on a charge (with support for faster wired charging).

Galaxy S24 Price

Don’t go on the Galaxy S24’s listing prices. It will be available at a massively discounted price, around Rs. 40,000 for the baseline model, during the Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 sale. For the price, the phone offers a compact form factor (with a brighter screen), a more powerful chipset, bigger telephoto and ultrawide camera sensors. Given that the phone is much more affordable than the S25 FE, I’d also go ahead and say that it offers much more value for your money.
