Since the announcement of the iPhone 16 Series by Apple, speculation regarding the iPhone series for 2025 has intensified within the technology community. Reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Series, set to debut in September 2025, will introduce a new model. Apple is anticipated to unveil a thinner and lighter version, potentially named ‘iPhone 17 Air’ or ‘iPhone 17 Slim,’ which could replace the iPhone Plus model that has been released over the past few years. If this occurs, it would represent a significant update to the annual iPhone lineup rather than a minor adjustment. While no official details have been confirmed, numerous sources and reports have provided insights into what the iPhone 17 Air may feature.
Here’s what we know so far about the iPhone 17 Air Model.
Apple iPhone 17 Air: Design
Apple has always tried to disrupt its existing product lines in the past and the same is expected to happen with iPhone 17 Air. Reports claim that the iPhone 17 Air will be slimmer than every other iPhone that has been launched so far and Apple will achieve this by a new display tech called TDDI aka Touch and Display Driver Integration.
The brand is planning to bring a TDDI display to the iPhone 17 Air for the sleekest design ever. This display tech combines the touch sensor and display driver into a single layer and reduces the overall thickness of the display area. TDDI can also make the image quality better, increase touch responsiveness, and lessen power consumption. But, its first effect will be seen in a slimmer than ever before design language.
The sales pitch for this iPhone is expected to focus on something snazzier than ever before.

Apple iPhone 17 Air: Display
We already talked about the TDDI display coming to iPhone 17 Air, furthermore leaks claim that the size of the display will be 6.4-inch making it more compact than ever before. It will be an OLED panel along with ProMotion tech for a seamless 120Hz refresh rate. The display is said to offer brighter colors and darker blacks due to TDDI tech. The display is also tipped to be super-hard anti-reflective which will also be more scratch-resistant than Apple’s ceramic shield.

Apple iPhone 17 Air: Chipset & Performance
The next generation iPhone 17 Air will reportedly be powered by Apple A19 Chipset, which will be N3P or N3X SoC. The iPhone 17 Air is also expected to get 8GB RAM which will make its capacity to manage apps and multitask better. Rumors claim storage options will begin at 128GB and go all the way up to 1TB.

Apple iPhone 17 Air: Camera Department
For now, there’s merely some speculation around the camera specs. Some reports claim that there will be a single-lens rear camera so that a sleek aesthetic is maintained. However, this seems hard to believe as Apple has been focusing on offering more options in terms of photography in the last few years. What seems likely is the brand introducing a new and compact camera module that will have more than one lens but still minimize bulk adding to sleekness. There might be a 24MP selfie sensor at the front.
Apple iPhone 17 Air: Battery
Since the focus will be on slim design, the battery might not be the best on the iPhone 17 Air. It might pack a battery having a capacity of around 3000mAh so that it can maintain sleek aesthetics.

Apple iPhone 17 Air: Expected pricing, colors & more

Apple might replace the iPhone 17 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air, but the new model’s pricing won’t be the same as the Plus version. iPhone 17 Air is expected to get premium pricing and might surpass Pro Max as well, which means a price tag of around 1.5 lakhs. If the brand does deliver a ground-breaking design and display with this one, pricing will justify the positioning. The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is tipped to come in black, silver, and gold hues and run the latest iOS out of the box.
Apple shook things up in 2022 when the brand discontinued the mini variant and brought back the Plus version, and now after 3 years, there might be another big change in 2025. For now, everything is speculation, so we will have to wait for some more concrete updates to confirm the launch of the iPhone 17 Air for next year. Meanwhile, Apple rolled out the iPhone 16 Series in September which includes four models- iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
