TL; DR
  • Pro Models: iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max use Sony IMX903 (48MP main, 1/1.28-inch), IMX972 (48MP ultrawide, 1/2.55-inch), and IMX973 (48MP 4X telephoto, 1/2.55-inch).
  • Standard iPhone 17: Dual 48MP setup with IMX904 (1/1.56-inch) main and IMX972 (1/2.55-inch) ultrawide.
  • iPhone 17 Air: Single 48MP IMX904 main sensor (1/1.56-inch), same 18MP IMX914 front sensor across all models.

Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, launched in September 2025, has been fully torn down, confirming Sony as the exclusive sensor supplier for all rear and front cameras. While most of the sensors remain unchanged, the new ones focus on higher resolutions and larger physical sizes.
