Bollywood is expected to get some hardcore cinema this month, and the first major release in the lineup has already hit the theatres in the form of Kesari Chapter 2. The Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan starrer courtroom drama, produced by Karan Johar, has been released in cinemas and is getting rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Previously, the team has already talked about the making of the film, how it is important, and turning Kesari into a full-fledged franchise. Kesari Chapter 2: Streaming Date & OTT Platform

According to OTT Play, Kesari Chapter 2 will stay in theatres for around 2 months and will stream on the OTT Platform JioHotstar from June 20th. Although an official confirmation is awaited, this timeline seems legit.

A week ago, the team revealed the first look at the main characters in the movie. The posters for Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, Ananya Pandey, and Simon Paisley. The posters reveal the names of the characters and what role they play in the film.
- Akshay Kumar takes the Centre stage as C. Sankaran Nair and is described as “One Man. Against an entire empire”.
- R. Madhavan is the lawyer for the British, Neville McKinley being called “Sharp, Fearless, but playing for the other side.”
- Ananya Pandey is Dilreet Gill, who is “Embraced by compassion, fueled by justice.”
- Simon Paisley plays General Dyer, being described as “Bullets rained, innocents fell….and he stood cold.”

The Dharma Productions team shared the first teaser for the movie ten days ago. This 1-minute 39-second-long teaser has garnered 24 million views on YouTube. Today, the trailer has finally been revealed. This 3-minute, 3-second-long trailer has received over 3.1 million views and over 145k likes on YouTube. Watch the trailer below.

The trailer released by Dharma Productions gives a glimpse into the terrifying story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is a chapter in Indian history that left everyone numb. The film follows the legal battle that an Indian lawyer fought against the British Empire for carrying out genocide in Amritsar. The trailer gives a glimpse of powerful performances of Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Pandey. It is expected to be a high-stakes courtroom drama, and the crew expects to get an apology out of the British for the massacre.

The movie released on 18th April, Good Friday and collected Rs. 7.75 crore on its first day. The numbers rose to 9.75 crore on Saturday followed by 12.25 crore on Sunday. On Monday, it collected Rs. 4.50 crore while on Tuesday the film earned 4.75 crore. The total collection is all set to cross the 40 crore mark today.
About Kesari Franchise: Will there be Kesari 3?
Kesari was released in 2019 and focused on the life of Havildar Ishar Singh, a soldier in the British Indian army, leading 21 Sikh Soldiers in a fight against 10,000 Pashtun invaders. However, what unfolds is the greatest last stand wars of all time. It starred Parineeti Chopra alongside Akshay Kumar.
Today at the trailer launch event, the team confirmed Kesari 3 towards the end of the evening. Akshay Kumar said, “Now we have to prepare for Kesari Chapter 3. Just today, Karan Johan and I were discussing that we should make a film on Hari Singh Nalwa. What do you all think? We have to show the true color of Punjab to everyone,” the actor said.
To give a context, Hari Singh Nalwa was the commander-in-chief of the Sikh Khalsa Fauj, the army of Sikh Empire. He was responsible for expanding the frontier of the Sikh Empire beyond the Indus River right up to the mouth of the Khyber Pass.
