Kia has finally launched the new Syros EV. After months of speculations, Kia India’s second mass-market EV for the country is now available for pre-bookings at just ₹25,000 through the Kia India website and dealerships nationwide. Beyond just adding another EV to its line-up, Kia is positioning the Syros EV around a broader ownership package designed to tackle the anxieties that typically hold Indian buyers back from going electric.

The car comes with many similarities with the ICE version and two battery options – 42kWh and 51.4kWh – and some impressive range figures. Let’s take a look at everything that the new Kia Syros EV offers.

Kia Syros EV – Range and Performance

The headline number here is range. As mentioned, the Syros EV is offered with two battery options, a 51.4kWh pack delivering an ARAI-certified 526km (MIDC Full), making it the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500km mark, and a smaller 42kWh pack good for 443km. Both very impressive numbers. Power comes from an advanced Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery built on Kia’s reinforced K1 platform, with the 51.4kWh version producing a segment-best 169 bhp of power and sprinting from 0-100kmph in 8.1 seconds. The battery itself is IP67-rated with liquid cooling, engineered specifically to handle India’s varied climate. On the charging front, the Syros EV supports DC fast charging from 10-80% in just 39 minutes using a 100kW charger, aided by a Battery Conditioning feature that optimises temperature ahead of fast charging, plus a 10.8kW onboard AC charging capacity.

Kia Syros EV: Design and Cabin

Styling-wise, the Syros EV builds on the design of the standard Syros but adds EV-specific touches, including Kia’s Digital Tiger Face front end, Ice Cube LED headlamps, Star Map LED daytime running lights, and auto streamline flush door handles — a first for the segment. It rides on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, with a 16-inch option also available.

Inside, the standout feature is a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display spanning a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a 5-inch climate control panel similar to what we’ve seen on the new Kia Seltos as well. Comfort features include ventilated front and rear seats, a 4-way power driver’s seat, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 16-litre front trunk. A Harman Kardon 8-speaker system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay round out the cabin tech.

Kia Syros EV: Safety

On safety, the Syros EV comes with Level 2 ADAS covering 16 autonomous functions, including front collision avoidance for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, smart cruise control with stop and go, and lane keeping assist. A 360-degree camera and parking sensors on all sides support tighter urban manoeuvring. These sit alongside 25 standard safety features including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and all-wheel disc brakes.

Kia Syros EV: Variants and Pricing

The Syros EV will be sold in seven trims split across the two battery options, with nine exterior colour choices and three interior themes on offer, including an exclusive Onyx Black and Hunter Green combination for the top-spec X-Line ER variant. Full pricing is expected to be announced closer to the car’s on-road launch. You can, however, pre-book the Syros EV for a ₹25,000 amount online or at your nearest Kia dealership.

Kia Syros EV: Addressing the Real Barriers to EV Adoption

With the Syros EV, Kia has also announced a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, aimed squarely at long-standing concerns around battery durability. This is an Assured Buyback programme to protect resale value, and the Korean manufacturer is also offering Battery-as-a-Service financing scheme that lowers the upfront cost of ownership by letting buyers pay for the battery as a subscription fee.
