In the latest Android beta release, a publication has found references to the next-generation tablet. For those catching up, Google released its first tablet last year, called the Pixel Tablet. It came with a 10.95-inch IPS LCD screen, a Tensor G2 processor, and 8GB of RAM. Naturally, enthusiasts expect the company to release the Pixel Tablet’s successor this year. Now that 9To5Google has reported its existence, we might see it soon.

Android Beta Contains References To New Devices

Google Pixel Tablet

On February 8, 2024, Google released the Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel phones. In the operating system, 9To5Google has found two new codenames that were previously unseen. These codenames are “Clementine” and “Kiyomi.” As per the terminology explained by the publication, these are varieties or examples of Tangors, a hybrid fruit that comes from sweet oranges and other citrus fruits.

“We believe that the citrus connection indicates that we’re looking at the first signs of a Pixel Tablet 2,” writes the publication in its report. However, that is the extent of information available about the next-generation tablet from Google. However, we can speculate that it will run on the more powerful Tensor G3 SoC and offer several years of Android updates, like the Pixel 8 years.

Pixel Tablet 2 Expected Launch Timeline

Given that the Alphabet-owned company is expected to host the I/O event in May 2024, there’s a good chance that it can announce then. However, the release, like last year, could take some time. More details about the Pixel Tablet 2 should surface soon.
