TL; DR
- Oppo Pad Mini launches on April 21 with an 8.8‑inch 144Hz OLED display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 power.
- Compact, phone‑like design targets iPad Mini and Xiaomi Pad Mini in the mini‑tablet segment.
- 8,000mAh battery, 67W charging, and a slim body aim to make mini tablets genuinely usable all day.
Oppo is gearing up to launch one of its most ambitious Android tablets ever: the Oppo Pad Mini. It is slotted for an April 21, 2026, launch date in China, alongside the Oppo Pad 5 Pro. Teaser videos from the company’s executive Qiao Jiadong (on Weibo) show the device, and, to me, it looks more like a big smartphone than a traditional 11-inch or 12-inch tablet.
The tablet features slim, symmetrical bezels and a punch-hole selfie camera at the top, which contribute to the smartphone-like appearance. Oppo is also inviting pre-reservations through its Chinese store, indicating that the company is treating this as a serious play in the small-screen tablet segment.

What The Oppo Pad Mini Will Offer?

Based on the latest teasers and leaks, the Oppo Pad Mini could feature an 8.8-inch OLED screen (3:2 aspect ratio) with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of around 1,800 nits.
Under the hood, the tablet should run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, positioning it as a performance-oriented mini tablet rather than a budget-only device. Oppo has also confirmed an 8,000 mAh battery that supports 67W wired fast charging. On the back, the device might feature a 13MP primary camera, with a flat, slim profile measuring around 5.39 mm at its thinnest point.

How Does The Oppo Pad Mini Fit Into The Mini-Tablet War?
To me, it looks like the Oppo Pad Mini will take on Apple’s iPad mini and Xiaomi’s Pad Mini, both of which are quite successful in the segment (in their respective markets). With a high-reflection rate OLED screen, a flagship-grade chipset, and a massive battery with faster wired charging, the company is bringing a premium mini-tablet experience to the mass market.
