Reliance Jio launches its first-ever JioBook laptop with Snapdragon 665 SoC

It was rumored heavily citing countless sources and was announced at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) just when 5G launched. Cut to now, it’s finally here. I am talking about Reliance Jio’s first laptop in the business aptly named the JioBook (just like the JioPhone, JioMart, and other Jio products. The laptop is powered by Snapdragon 665 SoC, more on it later.

No doubt it is a budget laptop from the giant that gave India the cheapest 4G data and much more. Let’s find out more information about JioBook in this blog post.

Reliance JioBook Pricing and Availability in India

The Reliance JioBook has arrived in India at a price tag of INR 15,799/-. Available via Reliance Digital’s website, using credit cards from Yes, DBS, Indusind, AU, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, and Kotak gives you an instant discount of 10% which is surely a deal worth taking for.

Reliance JioBook Specifications

Talking about the specifications you get onboard, the JioBook laptop has an 11.6” HD Panel with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC under the hood for the performance while Adreno 610 GPU takes over the graphics processing. It is the same Snapdragon 665 SoC seen on smartphones. There’s 2GB RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage onboard the JioBook that you can expand using a microSD card by up to 128GB.

According to the specs sheet, the budget laptop runs on JioOS which is Reliance Jio’s optimized version of OS that promises superior performance. The maker has partnered with Microsoft to support apps on the laptop so you will get a tonne of apps via the JioStore apart from those that are pre-installed.

I did mention a few times that this is a budget laptop and thus, there are cutbacks on almost every corner. There’s a 2MP video cam, HDMI mini port, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack among others that you get with this laptop. You also have a 2x 1.0W stereo speaker system for audio. Reliance Jio has added 4G SIM support with the laptop where you can walk into a nearby Jio Store, get the KYC done, choose the preferred plan, and get 4G data on the device.

There’s a passive cooling mechanism available onboard to dissipate heat. Finally, there’s a 5,000 mAh battery as per Reliance Jio that enables 8 hours of battery backup although we won’t confirm or deny it at the moment.
