Samsung just unveiled its flagship S-series phones for 2020 – S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. The size and heft are what primarily differentiates the three new S-series offerings. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ are generational evolution of Galaxy S10 phones and will be available in 4G and 5G options, while the ‘Ultra’ pushes hardware-specs and dimensions to their extremes.

The major takeaway from this upgrade is the improved camera. Camera throws in more hardware and also adds a Single Take mode that lets you simultaneously use all of the camera sensors and all major features.

All Samsung flagships will run Android 10 based OneUI 2.0 software, support 45W fast charging, and have 120Hz refresh rate screens. The Ultra will feature a 108MP camera with 9-to-1 pixel binning and have a 10x Zoom lens with periscope assembly.

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra Features

As far as the design goes, we have been seeing bits and pieces on other 2020 phones, but the S-series is obviously more refined. The S20 and S20+ have Gorilla Glass 6 on front and back and an Aluminum side frame. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a solid stainless steel frame.

On the inside, the new phones run the latest chipsets and in India, we will get the Exynos 990.

The S20 Ultra has a custom 108MP sensor that combines 9 pixels to one (unlike 8 to 1 in conventional sensors). It also has a higher resolution selfie camera and a periscope like stabilized telephoto lens assembly that helps achieve 10x hybrid zoom and 100X hybrid zoom.

These phones allow you to shoot using all three sensors simultaneously and then you can later decide which image you wish to keep. Samsung also improves night mode on the S20-series and adds 8K recording. Users will also be able to directly upload these 8K videos on Youtube.

Samsung has partnered with Spotify to enable users to personalize Bixby routines, with Netflix for directors exclusive content and making it easier to search Netflix content in Finder search, and with Google to integrate Duo calling (with up to 8 users) in the messaging app.

Other highlights include Knox security, 45W fast charging (charger bundled in the box), and AKG tuned audio system.
