Samsung unpacks new Galaxy Book laptops with Intel 11th-Gen CPUs

At its Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled mainly three new Galaxy Book laptops, namely Galaxy Book Pro, Galaxy Book Pro 360, and Galaxy Book Odyssey. While all three are powered by 11th gen Intel processors, the former two bring OLED screens, while the latter sticks to an LCD panel.

Samsung Galaxy Book Odyssey

The Galaxy Book Odyssey weighs just 1.85 kgs.

Upfront, the machine sports a 15.6-inch LCD display with FHD resolution. On its forehead resides a 720p webcam. To unlock the device, you can use the fingerprint scanner embedded within the power key.

Inside, it runs on either the Windows 10 Home or Pro edition software. This is laid on top of up to 11th gen Intel i7 processor coupled with Nvidia Geforce 3050Ti Max-Q GPU, up to 32GB (DDR4x) RAM, and up to 1TB (NVMe SSD). It gains energy from an 83Wh battery that supports a 135W USB Type-C charger.

The port selection includes two USB Type-C, three USB-A 3.2, one HDMI, a 3.5mm audio/mic, a MicroSD slot, a RJ45 ethernet socket, and a Security Slot.

Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360

Both these laptops come in two display sizes viz. 13.3-inches and 15.6 inches.

Now, the 13.3″ Galaxy Book Pro weighs just 868g, while the 15.6″ model is slightly heftier at 1.04Kg. Meanwhile, the 13.3″ Pro 360 weighs 1.04Kg and the 15.6″ variant clocks 1.39Kg.

Coming to the displays, you are getting OLED with content-aware Intelligent Color Engine enhancement. The Pro 360 model, as the name suggests can be used in varied layouts and its screen supports both touch and Samsung’s S Pen input. They both feature HD webcams.

Under the hood, they pack up to Intel 11th gen i7 processors paired with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 1TB NVMe SSD storage. The battery size on both the models is as such: a 63Wh on the 13.3-inch and a 68Wh on the 15.6-inch variant.

The Galaxy Book Pro comes with a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, one USB-A port, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The 360 edition has all of these and an HDMI port. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, LTE (on the Pro), and 5G (on the Pro 360).

Among other things, they also feature “Pro Keyboard” with chiclet keys offering 1mm of key travel, Dolby ATMOS sound, mics with smart ambient noise cancelation, fingerprint sensor on the power button, and Windows 10 software.

Other than these, Samsung also launched the standard Galaxy Book and the Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha in the Unpacked event. The former ships with a 15.6-inch 1080p TFT LCD display, up to 11th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, Intel Iris Xe iGPU, or Nvidia’s GeForce MX450 dedicated graphics option. The Flex2 Alpha, on the other hand, has got a 1080p QLED panel and up to Intel 11th gen i7 processor.
