Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Table of Contents
Samsung’s clamshell foldable lineup is gearing up for its biggest moment of the year as the company has confirmed a July 22 Galaxy Unpacked launch event in London. Alongside the purported Fold 8 (or the Fold 8 Wide) and the Fold 8 Ultra, the Flip 8 should improve on the current-generation Flip 7.
The stakes are higher than usual this year, and you can blame the ongoing memory crisis. Whether it’s entry-level smartphones, mid-range models, or flagships, every model is feeling the pressure, and it’s reflected in price revisions across the industry. It will be interesting to see how Samsung, which is also a memory manufacturer, responds to it by launching its next-generation foldables.
While Samsung has not officially confirmed anything, the leak cycle for the Flip 8 is essentially complete. Here is everything known so far, organized by what matters most.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Release Date & Time
Samsung just confirmed the schedule for its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. It takes place on July 22, 2026, in London, at 06:30 PM IST.
Those interested can watch the livestream on the company’s official YouTube channel. Flip 8 pre-orders are expected to open the same day, while retail availability could begin August 5, 2026.
For Indian buyers, last year’s timeline is the best reference point. Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 on July 9, 2025, at Galaxy Unpacked, opened pre-orders in India the same day, and put the device on sale on July 25. A similar pattern is expected for the Z Flip 8, putting India’s availability in the first week of August 2026.
Though Samsung hasn’t confirmed the Indian pricing, I don’t expect the Galaxy Z Flip 8 to cost less than ₹1,09,999 for the baseline 256GB model, matching the Flip 7’s launch price. However, the AI memory crunch could push the launch price to ₹1,14,999 or ₹1,19,999. If that happens, Samsung might have some trouble getting the clamshell off the shelves or out of its warehouses.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Design
Multiple sources suggest that the Flip 8 will follow a similar design language to the Flip 7 (review), with no major changes. In other words, the phone could still come with a dual-camera setup on the upper half, surrounded by the cover display, along with a tall-screen form factor when unfolded.
However, the clamshell could arrive with one measurable improvement: folded thickness could drop from 13.7mm on the Z Flip 7 to approximately 13.2mm. Unfolded, the device could measure around 6.6mm. In fact, the device is also rumored to shed 8 grams (180 grams total).
Most recently, a leaker claimed the foldable could debut in four colors: Cream, Graphite, Mint, and Pink. Other bells and whistles, such as the IP48 dust- and water-resistance ratings, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers, will be included.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Display
Display size stays the same: a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner panel at 120Hz with 2,600-nit peak brightness and a 4.1-inch OLED FlexWindow cover display. What is new is a “near crease-free design structure” reported by multiple outlets and sources.

Samsung has reportedly chosen to retain the M13 display panel used since the Z Flip 6, rather than upgrading to the M14 panel used in the Galaxy S26, a deliberate cost decision to maintain price stability. M14 would have offered 30% higher brightness and 20% better efficiency, but it could have increased the component bill, adding to the already inflated memory prices.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Performance
The Indian version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 might run on the Exynos 2600 chip, perhaps a binned version to control temperature rise and ensure smooth, reliable performance in the form factor. On the other hand, markets including the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia could receive the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy variant instead.

For those catching up, the Exynos 2600 debuted with the Galaxy S26 (review) series earlier this year. The chipset delivers a noticeable performance leap, especially compared to the Exynos 2500. It’s built on a 2nm process with a 10-core CPU and Xclipse 960 GPU, a meaningful efficiency and AI processing improvement. Memory options could remain at 12GB with 256GB or 512GB storage options.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Software
The second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year is usually when Samsung reveals its latest One UI skin, and this year should be no different.

The One UI 9 beta program has already been running for several weeks, and July 22, 2026, should be the day Samsung releases the stable version for all compatible devices, along with the Flip 8, the Fold 8, and the Fold 8 Ultra.

Like always, Samsung should provide a seven-year operating system and security patch commitment, which is the best in the industry. Alongside the regular One UI 9, the one on the foldables should include a couple of dedicated features. Otherwise, we’re expecting Galaxy AI improvements across Note Assist, Photo Assist, Now Brief, Browsing Assist, and Audio Eraser, among others.
Expanded Gemini integration on the FlexWindow cover display is also expected, given the trajectory set by the Z Flip 7.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Cameras
Unfortunately, we aren’t expecting any hardware upgrades from the Flip 8’s camera setup.

Leaks point to the same dual-camera setup on the back, which includes a 50MP (f/1.8) primary camera with OIS, a 12MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, and a 10MP (f/2.2) FlexCam camera on the front.
Video recording should top out at 4K 60fps with 10-bit HDR and Super HDR support. Software improvements via ProVisual Engine refinements are likely.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Battery Life & Charging Speed
Early FCC listings suggest that the Flip 8 could retain the Flip 7’s 4,300 mAh battery.

However, it might be able to squeeze out a meaningfully longer battery life, thanks to the 2nm fabrication technology used in the Exynos 2600 chipset. Wired charging could remain capped at 25W. However, the phone might not get magnetic wireless charging after all.
