Samsung’s Unpacked Event is just around the corner, and ahead of the event, details about next-generation foldables are making buzz in the tech world. While we are waiting for Samsung to drop the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 on July 10th, rumors about the slim model of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 have also started catching steam.

The Elec claims that Samsung has started production for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which means it might launch before the end of 2024. The publication also reports that the production schedule for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim model has been locked in, and it might get a launch in Q4 2024. Reportedly, Samsung is planning to ship 400,000 to 500,000 units by the end of 2024. For now, the foldable will be launched in select countries only, China being one of them.

The report also talks about the specs of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. It claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will feature a larger cover screen and folding display. It might have a 6.5-inch display and an 8-inch folding screen. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will come with a 6.3-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch folding screen.

The Honor Magic V2 comes with a 7.92-inch folding screen along with a 6.43-inch smartphone panel. Another competitor, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, comes with an 8.03-inch internal and 6.53-inch outer display. The slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will offer screens in tandem with its competitors.
The Elec also asserts that Samsung made a Z-Fold device with an 8-inch display a few years ago. But this one had poor grip due to thickness, and thus that model never saw the light of day. However, now the foldable might be tweaked to become slimmer, and thus Samsung might be going ahead with this. The publication also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim won’t have S-Pen support and will be much thinner than the normal version. Some components might have higher specs than the standard Z-Fold 6.
Since the device is still in production, we are taking all this information with a pinch of salt. More will be known in Q4, 2024.
