TL; DR
  • Samsung is reportedly developing LTE and Wi-Fi Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 variants for Europe.
  • A Wi-Fi-only model could lower the smartwatch’s starting price significantly.
  • Samsung may also launch a 5G Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in select markets.

Until now, the Galaxy Watch Ultra (review) has been available in a cellular version, letting users access call/messaging and cellular data services on demand. However, like the rest of the smartwatch industry, shipping the Ultra with LTE connectivity must be adding to its retail price, making it much less accessible for people with smaller budgets.

Well, that might change this year. According to a GalaxyClub report, Samsung is working on two different variants of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: LTE and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. If that happens, the Ultra smartwatch could debut at a much lower price than it currently sells. However, there’s a catch.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Could Start At A More Affordable Price Point

The report suggests that the company is working on a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth variant for the Netherlands and other European markets, which, due to stringent regulations, is becoming one of the world’s most consumer-friendly markets, not only for products but services as well.

Anyways, shipping the Watch Ultra 2 with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity would be a first for the lineup, bringing the Ultra smartwatch in line with the other models, which are already available in both LTE and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity.

While Samsung is reportedly working on a 4G and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Watch Ultra 2 for European markets, the company is also said to be working on a 5G model of the smartwatch for the United States and South Korea.

Speaking from an Indian perspective, launching a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could help reduce the starting price of the smartwatch, thus attracting more buyers toward the SKU. More details about the smartwatch should surface in the coming days.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) debuted in India at ₹59,999 with 4G connectivity. If Samsung actually releases the non-LTE variant in the country, it could reduce the launch price to around ₹49,999.
