Following the successful launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series (review), the company is set to unveil two more flagship smartphones later this year – the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. Leakerster IceUniverse has revealed some preliminary specifications for both of these upcoming foldable phones.

According to the latest tweet from the Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will feature a much larger front display on the outside, measuring 3.4 inches in diagonal, with an alleged 1:1.038 aspect ratio – a nearly perfect square. If the Ice Universe leak turns out to be true, the Galaxy Z Flip5 front will be slightly bigger than OPPO Find N2 Flip. The recently launched Oppo Find N2 Flip features a 3.26-inch panel on the front which makes the Galaxy Z Flip5’s 3.4-inch display marginally bigger.

The inner screen of the Z Flip5 will have narrower bezels and will adopt a new waterdrop-style hinge to help hide its crease, claims Ice Universe.

Moving on to the Galaxy Z Fold5, the device will retain the 6.2-inch cover screen from its predecessor and will be 0.2mm narrower. However, it will utilize a droplet-style hinge, like the Z Flip5, to help hide its crease and eliminate the gap when closed. Additionally, the Fold5 will be thinner than its predecessor, coming in at 13.x mm in its folded state compared to 15.8mm on the Z Fold4, making it a lighter device too, weighing in at 254 grams.

Both foldable devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy chipset and will feature IPX8 waterproofing. Samsung is also likely to introduce a new touchscreen technology with upcoming foldable phones.
