Although not mentioned in the press release, the Sony Bravia 5 features Mini LED backlighting technology with a 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Based on an LCD, the Mini LED display comprises a large number of tiny LEDs that enhance brightness, contrast, and overall picture quality. Under the hood, the Bravia 5 features Sony’s AI Processor XR, which unlocks several display-related features. For instance, there’s the XR Backlight Master Drive feature, which delivers brighter highlights and deeper blacks, making the on-screen content appear more natural. Then there’s XR Contrast Booster 10, which elevates the overall contrast of the content.

Other features include the XR Triluminos Pro and Live Color, which enable the television to reproduce over a billion colors, accurately representing every hue and shade. The XR Clear Image utilizes an AI algorithm to analyze and upscale lower-resolution content to near 4K quality, thereby increasing clarity and sharpness.
