Sony is prepping up to roll out the Sony WF-1000XM5 in the global as well as Indian markets. The rumors are leaks regarding the TWS are becoming more prominent day by day. In a recent report by The Walkman Blog, the design of the XM5 earbuds has been revealed. Going by the leaks, the earbuds will be round in shape and will have a smaller body as compared to the XM4. Things are not pretty clear in the leaked images; still, a hole can be seen in the left earbud, most probably for the microphone array.

Apart from that, a sticker on the buds shows that they are manufactured in China. In addition, the charging case FCC ID and model number are identical to Sony’s February 22, 2023, FCC filing for a wireless noise-canceling stereo headset. The glossy plastic body of the earbuds fails to offer a premium finish as we saw in the device’s predecessor. Expectations are that the quality of the product will be upgraded before its official launch.

Sony WF-1000XM5 expected features

The Sony WF-1000XM5 will come with two pin charging mechanism instead of the three-pin system that we saw in the XM4. Speculations are that the earbuds will also get a powerful 5V case. It will also offer a faster charging speed than the XM4. This time, Sony ditched the idea of using the thin LED that was seen in XM4 at the front of the case.

The leaked images also show a teardown of the case, which shows the charging coil working with the Qi. In addition, the teardown of earbuds has also been shown in the leaked images. With that in sight, it can be said that the earbuds will have contacts for a wireless antennae and touch sensor. Furthermore, it will also have a MEMS microphone, proximity sensor, contacts for the speaker driver, etc.
