The Taiwan-based data management and security firm Synology has announced a new flagship storage solution: the HD6500. The company also introduced an Active Backup Suite and Snapshot Replication to prevent ransomware attacks. With these new products, the company aims for substantial growth in the enterprise market in India.

New Security Solutions Demonstrated At Briefing

On April 24, 2024, Synology organized a press briefing in New Delhi, India. At the event, it addressed the country’s evolving landscape of data management and security trends. The company also explained how its new products can help companies and businesses tackle the rising ransomware threats.

Per the company, small and medium-sized enterprises face challenges in adhering to the stricter data governance requirements, including data breach notification protocols, data subject rights management, and the appointment of Data Protection Officers (DPOs).

Security SignIn

To tackle these and other similar problems, the company has launched several services, such as Secure SignIn. It includes a secure login framework designed to enhance the account security of Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), the operating system that powers every Synology NAS. The feature verifies sign-ins using multiple methods, including approved requests, sending OTPs, and hardware security keys.

Active Backup For Businesses

Then there’s Active Backup for Business, a data protection solution that provides centralized protection across diverse IT environments. The areas of coverage include virtualized environments, physical servers, file servers, and personal computers.

Snapshot Replication

The Snapshot Replication feature streamlines data recovery. It provides a robust backup capability against threats like accidental deletion and viruses. At the event, the company showcased the effectiveness of the feature through a simulated ransomware attack. “Administrators can configure scheduled snapshots and retention settings, ensuring efficient data management and recovery, even in scenarios where ransomware attacks occur.”

HD6500 – A High-Density Storage Sol

Among the other offerings, the company also unveiled the new flagship high-density storage server called HD6500. It is capable of producing up to 4.8 Petabyte of storage capacity. The product can be used not only as a central repository for files but also as a backup pool for large enterprise organizations.
