To begin with, the storage solution automatically backs up memories from smartphones, computers, cloud photo libraries, and external storage, all in one place. The device comes with 8TB of storage, enough for storing files of all family members (up to eight people), small teams, or creative professionals. Per the company, the total storage is equivalent to either three million photos or 500+ hours of 4K video.

Users can store their personal files, projects, school work, videos of family functions, and everything else that’s taking up the tiny storage on their smartphone or computer on the BeeStation Plus. The device uses on-device AI that helps users find pictures of people or subjects without sending any data to the cloud for processing.

Synology has also equipped its personal storage device with Plex Media Server support, making it easy to turn users’ media collections into streaming libraries. Whether users have stored favorite movies, TV shows, or home videos, they can stream them from the BeeStation Plus directly on their smart TV, smartphone, or tablet, without having to carry external storage drives at all times.

The company also offers a free three-month BeeProtect cloud backup subscription, helping users recover their data even during theft or disaster. Further, the portable server uses end-to-end encryption to keep the data safe, so only the owner can decrypt and access their files.

The back of the device houses a USB-A port, a Type-C port, and what looks like a LAN port. Then there’s a power button and a reset button.
