Out of the box, the Pova Curve 5G features a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 4,500 nits. For scratch resistance and added drop protection, the phone features Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Under the hood, the handset runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 SoC, which sports four 2.4 GHz performance cores and four 2.0 GHz balanced cores, along with a Mali-G610 MC2. The system-on-chip is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

Out of the box, the device runs on HiOS 16, which is based on the latest Android 16 operating system (a sigh of relief, since several mid-range handsets are still coming up with Android 15). It should also get two years of major Android operating system updates and three years of security updates.

Regarding optics, the phone features a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP auxiliary sensor. On the front, the phone has a 13MP selfie shooter.

Among the key highlights of the smartphone is an 8,000 mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. Compared to other mid-rangers with a 6,000 or a 7,000 mAh battery, the Pova Curve 2 5G offers a great advantage. The phone also features a charger in the box.

Despite its massive battery, the phone still maintains a relatively slim side profile of 7.42 mm. It is also among the lighter smartphones in the segment, weighing 192 grams.

At this price, the Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G competes directly with handsets like the OnePlus Nord CE 5 (review) and the Lava Agni 4 (review), both of which have more powerful chipsets. Then there are handsets like the Vivo V60e and the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, which offer better cameras.

In terms of battery life, the Realme P4 Power 5G outperforms the Pova Curve 2, which has a 10,001 mAh battery and supports 80W fast wired charging. So, it’s only when you’re very particular about something that you can find a better smartphone in the segment.
